3M Clear Bra on NBP

The 3M Clear Bra was installed on my TL when I bought it used. When its clean from 15 feet away I can barely notice it. But up closer it looks like a flat black sticker rather than a clear bra. When my car is a little dusty its even worse. People think its a flat black sticker on my front or think its primered black on the front. Its been installed since 04. Is this normal with NBP cars? I'll try to get a picture up. I'm considering taking it off and re-doing it.

you need to post pictures.

I have a RBP colored TL and when the car is dirty, you can see the clear bra including the lining...

I guess that what happens when the bra gets older?

Clear Bra

I'm not too much into the lingo but what color is your car. I've got a TL-S with a clear bra installed when I bought the car new back in August and I can hardly notice. But my car color is white. I think darker color cars show the clear bra much more noticably.

I have a NBP with 3M clear bra and it's not quite as clear as it was when it was put on almost three years ago. I even tried a light polish yesterday and I can tell it's still not as clear although it did help a little. It's not too big a deal to me as I know I can get a new one under warranty.

Even though you can get a new one under warranty, this is why I haven't gotten one of these yet. I can make it lookbad by myself.

I think serious wax application is all the clearbra you really need...and a pen for the chips.

I have had mine installed since last July and it still looks great. If you have the 3M version then it has a distinct "orange peel" look to to it. Clear bras are not perfectly clear. They do not have to be if you take care of it. I keep my car looking prestine (polished and protected) all the time. However, you should post some pics. Here is a pic of mine.

^How long has your clear bra been on? It looks great. Mine is very dull. I am definately going to take mine off and either leave it off or redo it.

That is awful. You need to take that shit off. Whatever it is, it is wrong or worn out and needs to be redone period.

That is definitely NOT right. We install and warranty 3M Clearbra & Clearshield applications, and even with year(s) old work I've yet to see a dull kit like yours.

Something went real bad there. Even after 5 years, it should look nearly identical as the day it was put on.

cbr04, need to take it back to the shop that did the installation, somewhere in the process, something failed. Have personally had this on my TSX and now my TL Type-S, and with moderate maintenance(waxing and cleaning), should be like new for a long, long time. What is on there needs to come off and they need to start over. Hang in there, the process used failed. Make em do it right!

I'm with everyone on this, I've had a clear bra on mine for a year now and even with 3-4 years on the car it should NEVER look like that...it looks like someone just stuck an opaque film on the front of the car

This one is only a month old, in certain light / angles it's not too noticeable, but definitely glossy

I bought the car with the bra on already. Its going to be too much of a hassle trying to get warranty work done since I am the new owner and the place that did it is out of state. I am just going to remove it and have it redone. Thanks for the input guys. Yes it looks horrible and I hope it provided some protection. We will see when I remove it with a heatgun. I'll post pictures.

How much are you guys paying to have these clear bras installed?

I had the whole front (hood, bumper, head lights, fog lights) both rear view mirrors, door edges, trunk edge, and on top of the rear bumper by the trunk lid. and paid around $ 700

That is the worse I have ever seen. Definitely remove it. I would go without one before I would live with that. That sucks.......

this guy is probably being sarcastic... talk all the crap you want but it is still protecting my front end even though it looks like poop. Like I said earlier, I bought the car with the crappy blurred bra I am going to get it redone.
