3Gen design flaw

Heh, heh , gotcha

I have had my RRP 05 A5 TL for five weeks. I live in Central Kentucky.

Regrettably during the winter the sun seldom shines and this winter the
roads have been wet for the duration ( I guess it beats ice and snow).

It appears to me that the Acura engineers have designed a mud magnet.

The slightest moisture on the road instantly generates yuck all over the
back end. I am not sure what the "mud guards" are guarding. If the road
is damp the lower half of the sides of the car get covered with a thick coating
of "stuff". ( and yes the roads in Ky are paved...).

However, I really enjoy the tl, I have a comptech rsb coming this week and
am seriously considering the Aspec suspension package.

I have the Blue Leds installed for the interior lighting and 28% Formula
One Metallic tinting all around.

I haven't had this much fun with an auto since I had a VW Sirocco hatchback.

I had a new 78 Scirocco Black/Black. Loved it when it ran but would act like vapor lock in traffic, not fun. VW was fun to drive but my automatic 78 Civic CVCC could outrun it.

I think the only way to keep the 'stuff' off the lower half of your car in winter is to put it in the garage. My alternate solution was an unlimited monthly pass at the local hand car wash.

And another thing, the RRP is a dust magnet....I can wash my car and pull it into the garage and already start to see the dust collecting...as for driving in weather, I know exactly what your talking about....

Underbody Required

For a not so cheap upgrade from mudflaps, try the A-spec undebody spoilers. They are just wide enough to keep the road grit within the wheelwells and the make the car look more sporty.

im gunna have to agree...with my old cars...i could drive it around the block to dry the car.

but with the TL, you cant, i cant even move the car without getting the trunk and rear bumper filled with pollen/dust

Indeed an overlooked fact that the styling of pushed out wheels ,wheel wells which really do not cover much tire and the wide tires will result in lots of splash up the sides. Can't have our cake.......

77 Scirocco and 85 Scirocco here.........Both great cars but yes, the 77 had vapor lock too. The first year for fuel injection (Bosch mechanical) and when it was hot it was trouble. Not a lot of power but handled great, especially for a FWD vehicle. The 85 was mostly trouble free for 104K. It looked great too until it was rear ended.

But if you drove one now, it would feel horrible compared to the TL. The TL is twice as fast, handles better, and gets almost as good gas mileage. Of course the TL cost me 3 times what the 85 Scirocco did!!!!!!

78 Scirocco = $7,500 (vapor Lock problem) Sold @ 50k+-
93 DelSol = $15,200 (top leaks a little and squeeks otherwise perfect @ 128K)
05 TL = $34,000 (5K miles, 0 problems)

Of course I'm just about twice as old from '78 and don't drive my 93 delSol much anymore; to hard getting in and out all day long. TL works great for me.
