Why would you purposefully do that and potentially cause premature failure?

I direct you back to that site.. Found subframes from between 500-800 bucks.. same price range as the 04-06 ones.
Type in your year and model zip code and pick "Engine Cradle" for the subframe.

07 subframe is constructed differently than 04-06 due to different trans as you know. Best thing is to buy the right one, otherwise you'll have issues with alignment and such later on.

since you're replacing the subframe, it'd be a great time to replace both engine mounts too

both as in the front and rear ones that are accessed from the rear of the car and connected to the subframe.
Then there's the side engine mount located on the top but that isn't attached to the subframe and why i didn't mention it
Unless I'm mistaken..

No, not mistaken, I just figured, if someone is going to change two, might as well change all of them.

Gotta love Harbor Freight! They come in handy in a pinch. Sucks, though, that you have to work in the street.

I agree with the fender isn't the best place to put that load, but look the condition of the front end. This looks like a daily commuter it just needs to run type car. Everyone has a different need/reason for a car. Guessing this car is beyond being a "pretty" car and the owner just needs it to stay functional to get around.
To the OP....the fender has no load bearing capability. That mount "should" be sitting on the strut towers, not the fender.
