There's definitely that point where you're just putting money in a money sink. Even the TL, being worth $8600, I'm highly questioning whether or not I want to spend for a-spec kit and that sort of stuff. 12% of the value of the car for a mod isn't what I call reasonable, at least to me.

Alrighty gentlemen, I gotta get up early on my day off tomorrow to go pick up all my goodies state-side (and post a big update in my actual thread), then wait for the arrival of my tires, then go get those suckers mounted, then go get my fenders rolled. Should be a busy day. Pray our border-Nazis don't detain me

You can always buy wheels. It becomes super shitty when the kits are gone. And really, that 12% investment now ends up being a 5% investment when you sell the bloody thing.
I have yet to hear from ONE person who regretted buying the kit. However, I have heard from a number of people who bought cheap wheels and regretted it after. It seems like a big investment for a couple pieces of painted plastic, and it is. But it's well worth it.
You curb one wheel and you'll be knocking a couple hundred off those too if you sell them. Goes both ways. One thing I know for sure, on older Hondas that had kits available, people want to sell their souls for one after they're discontinued. True story. Happened to me even, when I had my '03 accord coupe. I wanted a kit so bad but the colour was already discontinued when I bought the car in '09. It was a colour exclusive to canada so honda made very limited numbers of the kit.

That Miata looks nice, but not in a million years would I lower a car that low. It's not even drivable. Hella flush, bro! It should be mandatory to be on bags if someone wants to go that low. That sound is just awful.
I don't understand why someone does that to their car. "Check out my sweet sports car that I can't drive sporty"

If you wait too long, soon they won't even be available and you'll need to pay extra to paint it, making it even further out of reach

I need summer tires (threw out the old ones), stockies are 17s... If I buy 17 inches tires to fit on those I'll need to sell those eventually or get 17 inches wheels, and I would ideally want 18s... Buying tires +wheels at this moment seems like the most logical answer. Even more so if I can get a sweet deal somewhere.
Nothing so far has swayed me from cheap wheels, even with all the empirical evidence shared here or the internet (I have not read anything but old wives tales of a friend of a step-cousin in Bratislava...) Most horror stories seem accompanied by a general lack of important information regarding how the wheels were used. I'm not saying it's impossible cheap wheels fail (heck I've seen a Nova pop a $1000 wheel...) but the claims seem greatly exaggerated.
Don't expect and don't treat cheap wheels the same way as expensive ones is what I'm thinking. Car ain't seeing a track, I'm keeping everything suspension and direction related bone stock (except maybe a very mild 1.25" drop in the extended future), I haven't curbed anything in over 10 years of driving.
My only consideration is the pot holes, but I grew accustomed to dodging those at a young age.
I haven't rashed any wheel either, I park dangerously far from the curb. I think half the time I'm probably not legally parked and obstructing the road.
I'll take the chance, if anything happens you guys can point fingers and say "We told you so".
Then there's the transmission work which I want to get done with. There's the paint that needs a good buffing. Android tablet in the dash because CDs are so 2004.

When they stop making Aspec, you'll have to hope someone is trading in/selling and is willing to remove it to recover some cash. AND hope it's your color.
To me, you jump on something that will no longer exist. As far as reselling...wait long enough and you could be the guy removing it and selling for what you paid, or more.
Aspec (Sport Kit) was originally listed on the sticker as a $7000 upgrade.
I need to look for the my original invoice from my Stepdad.

Morning guys
Woke up a little late for my taste (was aiming for 7 but rolled around in bed for an hour lol) but I'm off to breakfast and then Niagara!
Hope y'all have a fantastic morning
PS: Definitely agree with Adam and Jeremy - Hell, I know firsthand the pain of when a kit is discontinued in a color - Like I said, I had to buy the skirts in NBP and now get them painted, and that's an additional 200 - 300 bucks out my pocket. Not fun

Hey different opinions.
I still need summer tires and ideally wheels so I don't have to derim the stockies all the time. You guys got mad hookups? I can't drive on winter tires or they'll be shot next winter, and that's worth twice the summer tires.

Except I still need to buy 17 inch tires, then resell them. Cheapest tires I can get new will tap $500. Resell will be ~$275 after 1 summer. Still cutting in my budget for HOLY GRAIL A-SPEC KIT $1000. Can't afford to buy tires + a-spec + tranny maintenance. (500+1000+300=1800).
Currently I'm heading towards 1100ish total for wheels and tranny maintenance if I buy those wheels with tires on them I've talked about.
I'm aware you guys are 110% sold out on buying the a-spec kit, I'm not. I'd like it, but not enough to have to fuck around buying smaller tires, putting them on the stockies, removing them, selling them, buying 18 inch tires, buying wheels all while eating bland macaroni and pizza pops for over a month so I can afford it.
I also realized it's also tax season and like any other given year I'll probably end up having to pay some money instead of getting a return.
If by some magic I get a decent return though....I'll post pic of the a-spec

and we're not sold on aspec kit...you mentioned it. if you don't care about it, why mention it? if you don't love it, it's absolutely a waste of money.
if you do and would want it later, you'd be a fool to wait until it's gone. kinda like paying attention to your wife and complimenting her and and taking out the trash when she asks while she still married to you and not doing all that after you're living in a van down by the river.

I don't think 4 posts in a row constitutes reformed.

That's the point I've been making since the start. There's things that are more important to me than plastic bits hanging from my car.
If I have the money at some point and it's still available then I'll be happy, but if not then I won't be crying for too long.
US: Skittles are awesome, you should buy some.
PB: But I has no money because I need to buy actual food.
