Just stripe it while cutting. It's doable with longer Augustine.
I do double lines and then do a pass back down the middle of the doubled lines. Get it? One pass down, one back, then another down next to the first, then start a fresh pass back, and then mow down the middle of the first two passes down, then add the second pass back, rinse and repeat. So like every third pass is mowing over already cut grass. The double wide passes are more dramatic.
That plus I mow the same exact lines/passes two mows in a row, then do a perpendicular* mow, then repeat. So 2:1. That way you're training the lawn a little. My backyard pretty much always looks like diamonded baseball turf.

I'm right at a point where a riding mower would probably be worth it, but I still like the exercise of a walk behind. It's not HUGE but in the summer it grows so fast...
