The 09+ TLs may have "proper VTEC" but then you have to look at an 09+ TL every day when you get in to your car... fuck they are awful compared to the 3G.

A local dealer rep brought a 2.3L Mustang to Cars & Coffee last weekend. The car itself is pretty nice, interior is fantastic, but... I got to rev it a bit and the sound is just not Mustang-y at all. I don't care if they get 700 hp out of that little 4-cylinder, it doesn't sound right.

Agreed. My friend Jeremy had an AP2 and that stuff was nice, would love to own that car eventually. I've heard some people say it was the nicest Honda they ever owned, if not the nicest car they ever owned.
He was the epitome of a douchebag though with his S2000 in the summer and his TJ in the winter. Started with one of these little riced up Integras, got buff in the gym, joined the firefighters... yeah.

I looked at the 4G TLs and while it's a nice car there's not the same charm to it. It feels very much like any other "fully loaded" sedan, doesn't have that thing that wows me. Also my GF says it has a beak in the front and she doesn't like that.

If I got a Mustang, I'd sure as heck want a V8 in it, for the sound. My dad bought a V6 convertible with SS magnaflow exhaust all the way and various mods and while he touts it sounds great it still sounds like a cheaply souped up V6 Mustang. Plus it's yellow...

I'm starting to worry about his masculinity.

S2000 vtec was definitely obvious but it basically went from no torque to a little torque...

Great driving car though, that's for sure.

No, the EP suffered from being fkng slow.

The 4G does have a beak. And, the biggest turn off imo is the ass. The back of the 3G is one of it's best cosmetic features.

I've been seeing a lot of pre-owned AMGs for (comparitively) short change lately. Do these things not hold their value?

I don't think I'd ever buy a pre-owned AMG but I did see a CLS63 (forget what year) that was tempting

They never hold their value. They're not bad to own though. Some oil leaks through valve covers and whatnot.. biggest thing to look out for are the ones under boost or air ride suspension. The air ride suspension variants are prone to failure after x years and OE components are expensive, so plan on doing aftermarket setup if available. I think the NA 63 AMGs are great. I'd love to have one in the garage.

Not I.

I'll stick to my affordable Acura. Almost 130k on the clock and still runs like the day I brought her home

Maybe when I grow up, I'll buy a big boy toy for the weekend though.

Everybody and their dog is dead scared of the air ride suspension and associated costs. They can make one of these a real money pit.

If it's good though, it's perfectly fine to have a second hand one if you take care of it. Once they lost most of their value, they steady and you can own one and flip it.

Back to Mercedes.. If I bought one, it would have to be brand new and financed for 5 years. They're warranty is 5 years/unlimited miles! As soon as I paid it off, I'd trade it in.

Sorry, I meant v-tech, VTech, vteck, vtek, v-tek, vtak, vtak-lol...

And after five years, you'd be getting $34.50 for it towards another car...
