i think the real question is, how many of us have high mileage TL's with not cosmetic damage (dings and scatches)???

I'd be more impressed to see a 100k+ car in showroom condition. Do they even exist???

oh and BTW

Not mine. The hood and front bumper is chewed up from rock chips. I live on the highways. Eventually I'll look into repainting the front end but it's not worth it to me right now. The TL to me is primarily a way to get safely to and from work in comfort. Looks and styling is secondary.

This is the shot of my trip computer from the last oil change. When I took these pics the oil was at <15%. I'm changing it this weekend. I'll usually get about 7500-8500 miles per oil change by following the MID. Average 50 mph and 30 mpg....not too bad for a V6.

Thanks dude. My last 4 oil changes were in the same range. I've done a ton of highway driving in the last 6 months.

If you think our engines need 30W oil to last, think again.

maxitack, wow another 08 with high numbers .cool.

nfnsquared,Thank you for the tip on the oil.I also been using the 5w20.
That was one of the 2 reasons why i started this thread:

-To find out what works?what goes wroung? When it goes wroung?so that we can make them last longer.
-To start a club where people are not ashamed to brag about the miles on their cars. The more miles driven the better.(The more you get to drive your car, the more you get to enjoy it.)just my opinion.

How many of you guys here have done the timing belt alrdy? and if so, how was the condition of the timing belt, tensioner, idle pulley, and adjuster at the time? I'm at 121k and have not done the timing belt yet. I have the belt and tensioner and water pump at home ready to go though.

Did my timing belt at 128,000 miles.Parts changed : timing belt, water pump, timing belt tensioner and serpentine belt(drive belt).I do recommend you change all of them at the same time. Mine at 128,000 looked like they only had about 50,000 miles on it,not that bad.I have seen them break at 130k plus.
In my years on the field the most i saw on the same t-belt was a 2001 cl-s with 139,000,upon further inspection the belt still looked ok.
So that being said anything over 110k on your t-belt,your just gambling.

Vendors for pharmaceutical companies. Bought mine from a guy who's company owned it. Just a car to get him from one point to another...which calculated to about 34,000 a year.

I have an 07 TLS with 89k miles. I'm about ready to do the timing belt, the service manual says that it should have been done 10k miles ago already because of the hot climate here (Phoenix). Also have to replace the compliance bushings and brake pads.

Read that SM again. It says for driving regularly in temperatures over 120F....

You don't have that in Phoenix or any inhabited locale in North America for that matter...

I don't have the SM available right now but are you sure it said over 120? Phoenix gets pretty close to that, around 110-115 average in the summer.

Btw, Death Valley gets above 120 regularly, even above 130. Yuma gets in the 120s as well.

Oops, my bad, dyslexic tonight.... It's driving regularly in temperatures below -20F or above 110F... Still, IMO Phoenix doesn't meet that criteria..

It's in the owner's manual as well:
