3600 mile trip in 04TL
I just completed a 3700 mile trip in my 04 Tl and thought I would post a short review.
The trip started in Houston, we stopped in Buffalo and Binghamton NY, We came back via western NC and the complete the trip acoss the gulf coast on I10 back to Houston.
Average Milage: 30 MPG ( 3600 miles were on the highway)
Highway Milage: 32 MPG
Gas Cost: ~ $350
Checked oil at halfway, no consumption that I could tell
Great car at 80mph, Spent most of the trip around the 80 mark sometimes faster. This car loves the highway. it stayed in the groove and didn't require alot of correction. Tire noise on conrete was loud, not bad on black top. (EL42)
XM Radio... a savior, comedy channel kept me from getting sleepy Top Tracks got annoying... Beatles, Rolling stones, Doors, CCR, led zep... repeat. MLB extra inning was good for keeping us awake as well.
Comfortable seats, though any thing hurts after 14 hours in one position.
That's pretty much it.

We did Tucson to New Orleans and back last year, and had pretty much the same results.
Tip: You're not safe at only 10 over in West Texas on I-10, where the limit is 80.
McClane: It's recommended not to drive long distances at constant speeds for the first 500-1000 miles or so. Varying the speed helps bed the rings and other parts.
