335is vs G37 + 335i

Just wanted to throw this tid bit out there. Had the opportunity to run against a nice fella a couple of nights back. I must say, those things sure are pretty to look at...both up close, and in my rear view mirror .

I was a little surprised, but we ended up pulling ahead. He had 2 passengers though, while myself and another friend of mine each had 1 passenger. We ran @ multiple highway speeds, and I seemed to pull a good 2 and a half car lengths. The 335i on the other hand, pulled bus lengths on myself and the 335is. On the contrary however, I blame the driver of the 335is, as it looked like he didn't know what he was doing. He seemed to be mashing on the gas on the 3rd honk. I've heard that the 335i/is' downshift at WOT, if not done "correctly". I'm assuming it would've been closer if he didn't pass the "click" point.

By the way, did I mention that my car somehow pulled on an '08 RS4?!

I don't think the 335i was stock he was running with. BUT, given the mods of the G37 compared to a stock 335is, I'd say this sounds about right. Stock G37 sedans are trapping 105+ in the 1/4. He basically has full bolt ons. Full bolt on 370Z's are trapping 110+, which should put him in 107-108 territory I'd imagine. Nice kill Erik!

You have to get a video of you vs. the bolt on TL-s. Idk how you are pulling on an RS4 yet are dead even with a bolt on TL-s. But stuff happens on the street

Sonnick is indeed correct . The 335i, as previously introduced, is not stock. He puts down somewhere in the neighborhood of 340 to 350 whp. I apologize for not mentioning so earlier; jb3, downpipes and intake. The RS4 what a bit of a whim...we were leaving from a stop light onto a freeway entrance ramp. I more than likely caught him out of his power band; was from a roll. But after looking around...it's plausible, as RS4's dyne 331 whp. Considering weight as a major factor and the awd system...well...you do the math

2 extra passengers does make a noticeable difference. As for the "click" I not completely sure the IS has this feature as it is a different transmission, DCT or something. Anyways, the click is downshifting which takes about a second. Therefore you would get the jump but after that it's fair game. You were pulling away after that so you are clearly faster.

Oh wait you had another passenger too... hmmmm. I would say less driver/car error. More like driver doesn't know how to race. I thought it was funny how he didn't even want to talk to us until I pulled bus lengths then their whole group chilled with us... too bad didn't get a chance to run the A7

What this means is that: when you race a car with two more (extra) passengers, you will notice that the car accelerates at a slower pace. This is because the car does not gain any more power with 2 more passengers, but instead it gains more weight which adds to drag, thus slowing the car's acceleration.

As for the "click" I not completely sure the IS has this feature as it is a different transmission, DCT or something.

Now, the "click" you are referring to is a mechanism made by BMW for automatic models. The function is to downshift to the lowest gear possible, no matter what gear you are in. This will allow the car to accelerate at its maximum potential. Power when you need it. This feature obviously is only noticeable in manual shifting model since automatic mode (D) shifts automatically. Furthermore, I am unsure as to whether or not the 335is has this feature since it uses a different transmission. I believe it (the transmission) is called DCT but I could be wrong.

Anyways, the click is downshifting which takes about a second.

As stated, the "click" downshifts the transmission to the lowest gear possible. Unlike Ferrari which shifts in .0015385 second, the 335 takes about one second to shift gears.

Therefore you would get the jump but after that it's fair game.

During this shifting period for the 335, you would pull ahead because you are not losing that crucial second to shifting gears. Afterward, both your car and the 335 are accelerating at maximum potential. Thus the term "fair game." Fair as in equal. Game as in the event, in this case racing.

You were pulling away after that so you are clearly faster.

Assuming the race was fair, which it was (see previous paragraph). Whomever pulls ahead is clearly faster. In this case you were pulling ahead, so you are clearly faster.
Now, I am not sure as to why you did not understand my post. It makes sense to me, grammatically and logically. Albeit I did not write using college level grammar. However, I did write in such a way that persons with 3rd grade reading comprehension would understand. I have added these websites below to help with your comprehension. Please take a look. I suggest practicing 2-3 hours a day. In a month or two, please reread my posts and hopefully it will make sense to you.
