32mpg @ 70mph - Not bad
I'm still reeling from the 18mpg i seem to usually get in town, but i was VERY impressed with my recent trip back from visiting the family. I ended up averaging 31 mpg at the end of the 360 mile drive, but I was happy to get this kind of mileage on my new (to me) 05 TL Auto.
I have a 96 integra that the TL replaced, i average 23 in the city and 31 on the freeway - regardless of my driving style - i'm still getting used to throttle control to keep my gas consumption in check on this bad boy.
Just thought i'd share.

Pretty good.
I don't get many highway miles. But a few weeks ago got a chance and did a reset to see what we'd get over about a 20 mile / 20 min drive back home.
Got 30 MPG at ~72 MPH.

I'd love to add some HP to the car, but i'm kinda strapped for cash for now.

The TL is great on the highway. The best tank for me was an actual 31.3 MPG with a 70mph average MID speed for 272 miles so that matches very close to your mileage. Even our Honda Pilot can get 24-25 MPG doing a similar type of drive so the Honda V6s are pretty good for cruising. I'm curious how the type-s does on the highway at 70MPH - I would guess the automatic would get about 29-30MPG and the manual would get 32 MPG which is good as well.

ya, usually can get over 30 mpg on the highway long distance. something I don't see at all. I'm averaging 23mpg commuting and such.
Something I've been wondering lately, does anyone know if you're on 1st gear at 3000 rpms, is the fuel usage the same as 3000 rpms on 2nd gear? So if 1st gear 3k rpm got you 9mpg, what does 3k rpm on 2nd gear? 9mpg also? Would it be the same for 3rd, 4th and 5th? for us auto guys.
The reason I ask is because sometimes when I shift from 4th to 5th, the engine is still at 4K rpm and then drops down to 3k after a little bit. it seems that the car is looking for extra power when shifting and i'm accelerating.
hopefully someone understand what i'm talking about.

The reason I asked about the outside temp is that it was about 35-40 °F on the way up, but 8-15 °F on the return trip. Also, is your 31 MPG measured by you after a fill-up, or what the trip computer reported?

yeah the TL is amazing on highway mileage, anytime i go on a road trip or am traveling far distances i love to reset my trip computer to see how good of gas mileage i can get. One time i drove up to the pittsburgh area from new jersey, i had a good rating about 37 MPG at 73 MPH i think. I was personally amazed. Although sometimes i think that its not as accurate, i feel like it should have been around 35 maybe. But the TL is awesome.
One thing that use to kill my gas mileage was the tiptronic. i was obsessed, i couldn't drive unless i switched the gears. i felt like speedracer. haha. But i went from getting around 12-14 mpg on a regular basis to around 28-32 mpg on a regular basis.

A J35A8 EG civic is in
Get a CAI and it'll go up to around 35 at least. On a day that I drive like a normal person, I get about 34mpg on the highway, but that doesnt happen often. On my normal days I get 26-27 on the highway. Oh and thats without the 20s and system in the trunk lol.. that kills gas

I used to get 31-33MPG on 300 mile (highway each way) trips from Seattle to Spokane and back at 72-75mph. I installed 18" wheels(23lbs/piece) with Eagle F1 A/S in 245/40/18. The average then went down below the 30MPG mark. Not sure exactly how much. My guess is around 2-3MPG with the increased wheel size and tire friction over the stockers with Pilot HX MXM4. I know the tire height changed from 25.4" to 25.7" with the tire switch which is nothing so that is pretty substantial. I then added a ski rack for winter and now I'm sitting at 25-26MPG for that same highway trip.
For city mileage, it's hard to compare because it all depends on how much I drive on the weekends. One thing I know is this thing burns fuel in the city like crazy. All the idling, stopping and going from red lights. Combined with a 50/mile per day highway drive to work and I'm lucky to see anything more than 21-22MPG overall. My old G2 integra kills it in this department and I do miss her for it.
