245-40-19 fit like a glove!!!

Well boys, I just bolted on my new set of wheels and tires. I went with 19" chrome plated Diablo Vienna's. They are wrapped with 245-40-19 Toyo's. They fit real nice, no gaps so no need for lowering. There is NO RUBBING what so ever!!

Let me tell you, they ride REAL nice! I am very happy with them. I honestly could not tell the difference between them and the stock setup when it comes to ride quality. They ride soft, quite, and smooth. Easy turning, and I don't feel the road, or hear it.

I had the same wheels, but with 235-35-19's on my 03 Accord (nitto brand tire) but they rode like crap. I could feel every bump in the road, and they were LOUD! I felt like I was riding on rubberbands.

I would like to post some pictures, but I am new, and don't know how to. Also the gallery seems like it never works. Any help!

Can't wait to see some pics dude. I am planning to get 19's too. So what size width did you go? I was thinking 19x9 but it might be too wide and might rub. So that is good news it is not rubbing. I am also thinking of lowering too but do you think it might rub since you say their is no gap. That is one of the reason why i wanted it lowered b/c I can't stand the gap. I am just waiting for the weather to get better here before i do anything.

The wheels are 8.5 wide. If you go with a 245-40-19, you will not need to lower, as there really is no gap. They also give you a much softer ride than a 235-35-19. I'll try and get some pics up ASAP.

Do you think i will clear by 19x9's?? I really want the wide wheel and low profile look. I know i would have to sacrifice my ride w/the lower (35's)series tires. But w/your set-up...is their still some room available in the wheel well? Say...i am curious how much you paid for your package??

thx dude!!

Talking

No way you'll be fine with a 19x9.0 rim. I just installed my this week and they are SWEET! No rubbing at all but I went with a 245/35 series tire. Rides nice and smooth still but a little noisy at low speeds. The rims definently set the car off.

Have you seen if they rub with extra weight in the back? I`d put 2 people in the seats and check

Have you tried turning (left/right) full range and while driving? That seems a bit much. But heck, it it works!

I have turned full circle and didn't notice any rubbing issues as far at people in the back seat I haven't tried that yet. There is still about an 1-1.5 inch gap in the rear the front tire has even more! I'm thinking about lowering the front 1" but not sure about springs with stock shocks. If you guys have any suggestions about lowering the car let me know.

That's why I didn't go with 245/40's. When I ordered my wheels I test fit both and while the 40's physically fit in the well, there wasn't that much clearance, mainly on the inside rears and as I take a lot of road trips with 2 people in back along with luggage and full fuel tank I was afraid of cutting a tire if I hit a dip.

I think I will be better off just lowing it to get the gap taking advantage of the increased spring rate to control the ride height over dips.

Your total wheel diameter is a lot larger now though, so your speedometer will be off (it will show a lower speed than your real travelling speed)

Since he has Navi I think there is an advanced menu where you can correct the speedo.

Arrow Actually, you cannot....

......correct the speedometer of the car itself. However, from the advanced menu setup, you can RECALIBRATE the Navigation system speed pulse input. Since the Nav system combines the GPS input with speed readings from the wheel, the accuracy will be affected due to the larger diameter wheel/tire combo. That's why you have the ability to correct for this!

That explains a lot (as to why non-Navi wouldn't have this calibration). I'm glad I'm sticking with 245/35's.

How do you go into the navi and calibrate the speed?

Well, it sound like most of would rather go witht he 35's, and that's cool. I was just letting people who were on the bubble know that 245-40-19's fit great, ride nice, and look good to.

The main reason I went with the 40 is to have a little more "cushion" in my ride. I had 35's on my accord, and I felt like I was riding on rubberbands. With the 40's, it feels just like the stock setup, but looks much better. I also did not want to lower my car and sacrifice the ride. With the 40's there is not much of a gap. I am not too worried about eh speedometer being off a few miles per hour......I do still have the ability to adjust that in my head.

I have not had 2 people in the back yet, so I will let you know if I get any rubbing when I do that. I hardly ever have two people in the back though.

With the 1.4" taller tire (245/40-19), when the speedo reads 60MPH, you'll actually be going 63-1/3 (5.5% off).

Will do. I wonder if this means that when I have gone 63 miles, it will say I have only been 60 miles?

Black Velvet, what offset did you get? The Diablo website doesn't have wheels specs and I haven't found any 19 x 8.5 Vienna's listed anywhere.

When I get my TL, i plan on getting 19x8.5" rims with probably 235/35/19 tires.

But i also wanna lower it about 2" or so when some coilovers or something become available. Do you guys think I'll have rubbing problems THEN?

P.S. on a side note, are there any coilovers in the works for the 04 TL's?

235/35's looked bad when I had them test fit on 8.5" ADR Sterlings. The rim was wider than the tire and they crowned really bad. The 245 fit perfect. As for rubbing, I wouldn't think so as Black Velvet is running 245/40's with no rubbing.

235/35-19 is barely taller overall than the stock 17's. Even 245/35 is barely 1/2" taller and Eibach offers a 1.5-2" drop.

I was wrong, my Diablo's are 19x8. I am not sure what the offset is on them, but they do't stick out at all. I will try to get some pics up ASAP.

I have 19"x8.5" HRE's w/ 235x35's and so far I love them. The tire does look a little "rolled", however. The tires I got are the Nitto 555's and so far the performance, ride quality, and noise are next to perfect.

I have 245/35/19 Nitto 555's on my NBP TL. I have one problem. When I reach speeds of 60mph and higher I get a vibration in my steering wheel. It tends to get worse the faster I go. Does anyone else have this problem and do you have any answers?
Thanks,

^ tires probobly need to be balanced

that used to happen on my integra, they installed wheel spacers? those things between the rim andbrake rotor plate(where the rim sits against) and it solved the problem.

could be..
spacers needed
nuts need to be re torqued properly
tires need balancing
