2010 TL SHAWD vs 07 TL-S vs 09 Accord V6
I was hanging out with a couple buddies tonight and then we started talking about which car was fastest. So we all went for a drive on the highway and these are the results....
Mods - Engine wise
2010 TL SHAWD 5AT - Takeda SRI <---My car
2007 TL-S 5AT - AEM V2
2009 Accord V6 Sedan 5AT - Jpipe
Race #1
My TL SHAWD vs Accord - 50-125ish
We beep 3 times and I pull in front right away. By the time we shut down, I was about 1 1/2 cars in front.
Race #2
TL SHAWD vs Accord - 0-80ish
This time, we were at a light. The light turns green and we both take off at the same time. Again, I pull in front of him right away. By the time we shut down, I was about 2-3 cars in front.
Race #3
TL SHAWD vs TL-S - 50-120ish
We beep 3 times and we stay even til about 105. As soon as I shift into 4th, he starts to pull away slowly. By the time we shut down, I was about a car behind.
Race #4
TL SHAWD vs TL-S - 0-80ish
The light turns green and we both take off at the same time. I was pulling away very very slowly. By the time we shut down, I was about a half car in front. Pretty close.
Enjoy!!

someone needs to make a legit video of a 3GS vs. an SH. Nice runs though it sounds like.

The 4G SH has the same gearing but with a shorter final drive to help compensate for the extra weight and drivetrain loss and it seems to do a relatively good job but still suffers like most Acura/Honda 5AT products in 4th gear. The SH combined with the superior traction, gains more down low and in mid range in favor of the 2 wheel powered TLS' slight high end andvantage.
The SH 5AT is a decent performer despite some of the early mixed magazine results and the thing is the 5AT tranny is especially terrible for that application, the 6AT will improve the car drastically in all speed ranges much like the current 6MT.

That doesn't make much sense as the TL SH comes in a 6MT and 5AT where the MS3 is only manual. The other problem is few 4G owners will bother racing a toy Mazdaspeed 3, they will just cruise along with an as capable 1/4 mile 5AT car vs a 6MT MS3 (which is sad really) and a much more capable 1/4 mile car in a 6MT vs 6MT comparison as well being a luxury vehicle in the first place instead.
For what it's worth the Mazda also can't handle like a TL SH can, I don't see a point in car that has too much power that it's drivetrain can handle and is only top speed friendly in a straight line. It's a useless bragging point and it's kind of more about 1/4 mile speed and all acceleration to that point, braking and handling as a whole and in conjunction to each other. It also helps that it is as large and as capable as it is at the same time while having a level of luxurious appointments above a Mazda but if you need cheap, a wagon, and "go" above 100 mph then that's probably your choice and more power to you.

Team Owner
Please do. I'm soooo close to posting his home address for someone in his area to take care of him. After all, he goes by two usernames, "manual transmission" and "mazdaspeed3God'. I believe that's a violation of the rules.

Nice runs man.
Looks like the 3G TL-s 5AT and 4G TL are really close. Probably the same with the 6MTs as well.
