Hey all, my 08 Type S is getting really poor gas mileage. Im doing a mixture of city driving and highway driving but it even seems low if i was strictly doing city. I get about 14mpg average. I've replaced my spark plugs and changed out the engine air filter. My tires are a bit worn but I don't think that would change my mpg dramatically, maybe 1-2. I plan on getting new tires this spring. I'm wondering if anyone has had the same problem or had any clue what the issue could be. Only other thing I can think of is the O2 sensors but I have no check engine light so wouldn't that come on if there was a problem with them? I guess I could buy new O2 sensors, are they easy to replace? Where are they even located? Most people seem to be getting 19+ that I see on various forms.

As with most MPG threads, there generally is plenty of historical threads that could be referenced to give you most of your answers.
1.) Post your MID details for MPG and AVG MPH
2.) Usually a heavy foot or lots of stop and go traffic are the general culprits

Where do you live? If its really cold, it takes longer for the engine to warm up so it runs rich when cold. Short trips and cold weather means pretty crappy mileage. I certainly wouldn't throw parts at the car until you make sure your driving habits aren't affecting your mileage.

would that be giving me 15mph? I don’t use a heavy foot or am in stop and go traffic often. I mean my dads truck gets better mileage than my car so I feel like there’s a problem

I drive easy on the car and it is cold right now. But I still feel like it’s ridiculous mileage for a car Originally Posted by Scottwax

You need to share you AVG MPH along with MPG from the MID. As for your dad's truck...my guess is that it isn't a 12 year old truck.Originally Posted by derekdelfrate

my average mph right now is 20 but that’s because I’ve recently been driving city. My mpg was still the same even when it was higher though Originally Posted by Jackass

If your AVG MPH is under 30, expect crappy MPG. Go out on a clear highway, reset the MID, drive at 65MPH for 5-10 miles and report back the MPG. With an AVG MPH of 20, I would easily expect your MPG to be somewhere in the mid-teens.
