2008 TL Nav vs 2008 Accord EX-L V6 with Nav

Anyone seen the new 2008 Accord? The EX-L V6 with Nav has just about every option that the TL does for less money. The only thing I have found that it does not have that the TL does is the ability to manually shift the Auto Trans.

I am in the market for a new car and was leaning heavily towards the TL.....I looked at Honda's website and saw they redesigned the Accord. The TL will be redesigned in 09.........so If I buy an 08......it will be "outdated" in a year.

What do you guys think??? How do these two compare?

Yeah...I'm interested in hearing the feedback on this as well. I'm considering the same thing.

well accord granted is a new body and all, but im sry it does not look right, looks more like a hyundai. the stance of the car to me looks cheap. idk...the drive is deff not the same. accords are too floaty if you ask me. now not that i have a lot of love for the TL's. but im a very open minded person. so to me the TL hands down wins the battle..two different classes....TL entry luxury sedan...accord mid size family sedan

Accord is far more mundane and sedentary than the TL. You will not get the same curb appeal or respect with an Accord as you get with a TL. Accord's are everywhere, especially with the new model redesign that makes it look like a 5 series bimmer now. The cost difference is quite notable though. Depends what you are looking for, exclusivity or a high quality luxurious ride? If I were you, I would get a slightly used TL over a new Accord. I'm actually heavily considering the Diesel version that is coming out in 09', 45 MPG on Honda's new BIN 3 compliant diesel motor. I drove a EURO accord (TSX) with this motor in the UK and loved it. So much torque and very little of the diesel smell and noise, all with 45 MPG. I live in Chicago and the TL is killing me on gas, getting less than 15 MPG in city driving.

i say test drive both and see. i dont mind the new accord, with the coupe being the best looking. but if you get an accord make sure you go with a darker color, especially with the sedan. the body just doesnt look right with the lighter colors. i actually think i read somewhere that it was designed with darker colors in mind. anywho, i would go with the TL either way, buts thats just me, or everyone on this site for that matter. good luck!!!

You don't mention whether or not you would consider the Accord coupe, which of course would be a totally different car than the TL. It looks much better than the sedan, IMO, and everything I've read says it's more sports-oriented in handling and acceleration, especially with the 6-speed.

If you need a 4-door though, I agree with the poster who says get a lightly-used TL - certified if you want the good warranty - and wait and see how you like the new-style TL in '09. You'll almost certainly enjoy driving it more than the Accord, and you won't take the hit on depreciation (not to mention not paying a premium at the Honda dealer for a high-demand car).

07/08 Type S>07/08 Base TL>New Accord Coupe>Used 04-06 TL>New Accord Sedan

That is the order I believe many will agree with

I can certainly understand as Honda did us all wrong by putting a more powerful v6 in Accord.

I would only consider 2008 Accord if wanted a 4 cyl model, otherwise it is not wise to pay a full sticker for a vehicle. Waiting for 09 TL is not wise, since that will be selling for a full sticker in the first year as well, and that sticker is probably close to 40 large ones. If you can spot a nice used low mileage TL then go for it, but consider the price difference between a used one and a brand new one. I am quite sure you can still find a brand new 2007 on the lot for a couple of grand under invoice

w8 a year lease a 09 TL for one year and if u like it buy it for a marked down price because its a leased vehicle and a year old...currently the 08 Accord is crappin on the TL...the more powerful V6 is what honda does everytime they change the body on the accord...they gave the 03-07 accords a basically even bump in power compared to the 2nd gen TL/CL so u have to expect the same for the 8th gen Accord and then the 4th gen TL will have even more power for 09

Anyone have thoughts on the upcoming diesel motor in the 09' Accord? Supposed to be about 150 HP/270 TQ stock. Sure it doesn't seem like a lot, but remember it's a diesel motor with a very low powerband. Think of the potential of cat back exhaust, boost controller, bigger intercoolers, etc...I just spent 4 weeks in the UK and was amazed by the performance of some of the Diesel taxis I rode in. For example, the Vauxhall Astra and Opels were quite peppy with a 5 speed, all while getting close to 40 MPG in mixed driving. I would say 60-70% of cars in the UK are diesel, with gas at $7.50 a gallon, I don't blame them.

if i were you, i would wait for the 09 tl. save up some money at the mean time. don't rush into buying a car. if you get a tl now, you might regret it cause you only have that model for a year until the new one comes out. but if you get an accord, that's like getting a high-end hyundai. so think hard...

Sorry, but we don't do "car comparisons" in 3G. This discussion is better suited in Car Talk. You will get unbiased opinions there. Since we can't move threads there, please feel free to restart this discussion. Thanks.
