2007 TL w/ Backup Camera & XM Traffic???

I saw the pictures of these features on the Acura website. Can we get our 2004-2006 TL's upgraded with these features???

you're quite wrong acura911. mayflowerman, it is possible to upgrade your TL to have those features, however, the wirining harnesses and parts would be very expensive and tedious to install. You can go aftermarket to get the back up camera, the live traffic, you have to use a 3rd party receiver, or retrofit, which again will cost a lot of money and time.

or even check out this one...very aftermarket.

A few members seem to like it....I would be scared of it getting stolen also though.

Please perform a search before posting. There are a few threads on this already, but here is a quote from one of them:

You can perform a search for exact details, but here is a good place to start:

Within that thread, I have made reference's to Wendy's camera on eBay. You should check those links or perform a search. Wendy's camera is very well hidden compared to the one above.

Appreciate the responses. I'm aware of the aftermarket solutions but am not a big fan of "aftermarket" upgrades. I'm a "factory man" myself.

To be more specific, I'm assuming we could (if we wanted to open up our checkbooks) have the DEALER install the 2007 hardware & software etc. in our older cars to get them updated. This would include the reverse cam feature. Interesting enough, the reverse cam is not indicated on the ACURA website as a feature, however, there is a picture of the NAV display showing the camera view from the rear.

I'll call my dealer and investigate.

Thanks again.

You do what I do. I put www.google.com/gmm on my cell phone (treo 700p) and view the live traffic that way.

I did the wendy cam + dvd2nav mod.

I have a feeling you won't receive any help from the dealership. From what I've read, the camera connects to an integrated plug to the '07 navi DVD drives. So in order for you to install the '07 factory camera, you'll need to replace the navi drive as well on the '04-'06.

The backup camera is an '07 feature, not an '04-'06 feature. Similarly, TPMS is an '06+ feature, not an '04-'05 feature. Your asking your dealer to install a new feature that was not originally a feature for your car. You might have better luck at a private shop thats bold enough to take it on.

Even if you pay a nice chunk of change to get everything installed, I would question on how the warranty would play out. I would assume it would be voided since the warranty covers parts that meet the factory standards for that year/make/model.

Good luck! If you get it to work, please let us know.

Is is under the "Safety" section on the Acura website. Interesting part is that is shows "optional" beside it. Maybe it means optional depending on whether or not you get the navi system. That part I am not sure about.

Yes... The backup camera only comes with the Nav system... otherwise there's no screen.

Naturally, no screen, no backup cam. I was just wondering if it came with ALL navi systems or if it was an extra?

Its definately possible, jptl installed Navi into his non-navi so anyone with some electronic know how and patience can do it. It would be pricey, since you can't find 07 Navi parts on ebay or secondary sellers yet. Also with the rearview camera you would need a whole new 07 rear license plate fixture with the camera add in. All in all your looking at spending installed if you don't want to do it upwards of 4g's. If it is worth it to you go ahead, its nice to see projects like this!
