2007 TL-S A Spec Rear Lip on 06 Bumper

I have seen a few ask the question if you can put the type s a-spec rear lip on an 06 rear bumper. The answer is YES! I will post pics later. To my knowledge noone has answered this question yet (not sure if anyone has tried) so I figured I would share.

1) I swear this was done before...the exhaust cutouts are bigger, so it's not as clean, but as far as putting the lip on the bumper, yeah, it fits. I think the other guy that did it cut his rear bumper so the mesh didn't have plastic behind it, too.

2) Why would you post a post like that without having the picture? It doesn't make sense. Wait until you have the picture, then post.

I think you're right I remember seeing the pics.
It looks alright, I don't see anything wrong with the 06 A-Spec.

Yep... been done... but aznbo's pics are inconclusive as the balck is hard to make out the details, and he never did a write up...

I look forward to 06WDPTL's writeup.

The 07 A-spec rear bumper obviously won't match the rest of the 04-06 A-spec kit if you already have that on your car, as the new bumper has the black plastic trimming in comparison to the dark gray pieces on the previous A-spec, so keep that in mind besides the larger openings and the middle cut out. I personally think the the 04-06 set up kicks the new A-spec's ass. Just go for the original A-spec, Acura did a great job on that!

I might be wrong, but I thought aznbo187 installed the 07 base TL kit, not the TL-S.

i didnt post pics because the car is at the body shop having the black parts of the rear lip sprayed grey to match the 06 front lip. i have the comptech exhaust and it fills the cutouts nicely but you have to keep the mufflers polished. i also cutout the center of the bumper and painted everything visible flat black and made a custom grille for the lip. i will post pics as soon as i get the car back from paint.

I really like that...

I would use a silver mesh on the grille to match my front lower grilles.

Thinking hard about doing this now.

looks good .. we can definitely see the lower grille better on a WDP. It also seems that the rear sits a bit lower than the 04-06 Aspec rear.

06WDPTL,
So where's the install write up?

Does it bolt right on? Did you have trim the stock bumber opening back? How much?

How much hacking do you have to do to make this work?

the 07 a-spec kit might be to our advatage with an exaust setup. Before there was not enoguh rom for a nice big tip that would make it free flowing, but now with the extra room, when can fit wider tips in there:

Kennedy, if your down, i'll take the bumper off ur hands. obviously depending on the price. we've been on this board for awhile and i know you'll give me a good deal, but im kinda on the fence on purchasing a new one, depends on how well i do in vegas next weekend cause i have a coupon for 5 percent off acura stuff on oemacuraparts.com and it expires on july 1st.

let me know!

Sweet setup! Love the way it looks on white. Have you thought about quads?

For those who are concerned about it matching with the rest of the a-spec...I don't see it being a problem. The rear kit is the same height (when looking from the side), as the 04 a-spec kit would be. It really looks factory either way, with a little bit of a zing!

basically you have to cut out the exhaust ports in the factory bumper, then the 06 lip had four screws in the center going through the bumper and the 07 has three so you have to drill three new holes. The brackets in the wheel well fit fine and the center I just cut a rectangle in the bumper and painted everything visible flat black, then I got some mesh and cut it and shaped it to fit the lip, painted it gloss black and glued it in place. Any questions let me know.
