2007 TL High Miles 75,000 miles should i buy???
Hi all and thanks for you help.
I am looking to buy a 2005 and up tl. I wanted to to spend around 16k.
This is the delema.
I found a guy here selling a 2007 tl with 75k miles.
That's alot of miles for a 2 year old car. It 1 owner in PA.
The car looks very good with nav loaded.
The dash looks better than the 2005.
He is asking $16k
For that money i can get a low miles 2005.
What do you guys think? Am i looking for problems if i buy the 07?
Thanks much

I'd say a good buy, depending on the yearly mileage you intend to drive, and how the car was driven. To feel comfortable, have it checked over by the dealer or a trusted mechanic, and also look at the Carfax report.
Private Party-KBB in excellent condition $17600, and good $16300.

may be newer which could be the bottom line for you, but the way i look at it, its basically the same as the 04 model. depends on how much you drive, but you could easily be approaching 100k in a year or so. me personally, the goal is to own this car till it falls apart, but to have it paid for by 60k.

Perlztt, my first instinct is to say "Pass" on the 2007. Technically, it is a Honda, which are made to be driven a LONG time. But that's alot of miles on a 2 year old car indeed. Can you find out how the '07 was driven? Was it highway miles? That might help you make your decision.

I am a long commuter as well, but 2-yr, 75k is a whole lot of miles. If I was in the OP's shoes and was very interested in the car, one thing will break the deal: substantially missing or no maintenance records.
The miles are most likely highway - which is fine, so maintenance is a bigger factor for me.

Timing belt needs to be redone at 105k miles. That is supposedly a $1200-1400 service! So, big money there. If you are only driving 7000 miles per year, then the high mileage should be okay as long as the car was well maintained. If you keep it for a while at that low mileage pace, the car may become a 'normal' mileagecar again! With how many miles that is, they probably did do a whole lot of highway miles.

Lot of miles for a that short of a time.
I'd find out what kind of miles - highway or city. If all/mostly highway, I'd consider it with all service records and one owner.
If it's all highway miles, its mostly easy engine miles and the engine will run forever with good maint; city miles wear on susp, trans, and more/extra wear on the engine.

You will run into having to replace some parts you'd need to do on an older car
Ie. Suspension components
The price is def good price, if the body is in good condition, I say go for it
The motor as mentioned before will be longlasting
As for the trans, knock em down to 14k as mentioned prior and get urself a good third party warranty somewhere on the lines of 100k 5 years

It's a good price. They are more than likely highway miles. I'd personally rather get a newer car with a few more miles than a car that's been sitting around.
Back in 99 my fam bought a 96 TL with 124K miles. It's 10 years later and it has 237K on it now. Still piling on 70 miles a day.
I'd say go for it!

Gents,
I will be going to see the car one more time Thurs.
I told the guy i want to bring to a shop to check it out.
Should i bring it to my mechanic or the Acura dealer?
My mechanic will not be able to connect it to a computer to check it.
He will only do a visual of the engine and underneath.
What do you guys think?
Anything that is should check or ask specifically to be looked at?
The price as off now is $15500. How does it sound 2007 tl with 75k miles.

^Not necessarily. A fleet car could just be a company car.
I've seen some very nice fleet cars with higher miles.
I'd check up on serv. records. That would be my #1 concern.

fleet would make me nervous as heck. and at 75k that thing was being driven around the clock. if it passes all inspections, then i guess it's up to you...but check body work, diagnostics, engine seals, suspension. i'm sure you wouldn't want it if someone went "offroading" in it, etc...
Good luck!
PS I ended up with a 2004 with 34K and couldn't be happier. A few aesthetic touch ups and in my mind...I'm driving a brand new car.

A friend of mine works for a company that repairs heavy machinery and he cannot take his "tools" on a plane as they are too heavy and connections are too slow. He puts about 70,000 miles a year on the cars, and maintains them impeccably, but they are driven extremely hard, 70-80 mph for hours on end. No problem for him to leave early in the morning, drive 200 miles to a job site and return later the same day. Highway mileage is great for a vehicle, but taken to the extreme it can add to a vehicle's early demise.
Once agin, just have the vehicle inspected closely.

I bought a 05 TL w/ 72k for 13k. It was a fleet car. I had it looked over before I bought it and it needed about 2k or work done.
The math worked out for me. I had both driveshafts replaced, new ball joint, tuneup, resurfaced rotors, rotate/balance/alignment, etc.
All of this work is now warrentied and the car drives GREAT.
So, that being said, I offer 2 pieces of advice. 1) Don't get CarFAX, they suck. Get autocheck.com. Direct comparison of over 20 vehicles when I got it showed problems on the autocheck that didn't show up on CarFAX. 2) DEFINETLY get the car checked out. You need to add the repairs into the cost if you want to only spend 16k.
You can get a good TL for that price, just be careful and do your research!

And I have also had things come up on autocheck that CarFax did not catch....

wow 75k miles on an 07 that is a lot of miles but as many others have said you need to consider the use and also the condition of the vehicle. 16k does sound good for a 2007 and as far as getting a 2007 vs. the 2005. I have a 2005 and the 2007 does have a lot of upgrades vs. my model, i.e. mirror blinkers, bumper fog lights, interior upgrades.
