Yours should be PnP. $40 to swap the bezel out. We have to do this becasue the <2006 cars have the buttons on the bezel, where in 2007 they're on the wheel.

Nice DIY! There must be an easier way of just getting those silver rings on. I know bmw guys can just buy some pre-fabbed rings, and then glue them on. Viola!

No easier way yet...

2 marketing opportunities tho.
- Have FLBusa use that cool micro cnc machine he makes keys with and machine the holes more precisely...

- Have acustome set of rings molded and glue em on.

Anyone have any real fabrication access?

Hey DaveD... The right side is done.

Now I'm having trouble getting the max/illum buttons mounted.

Did you have to mod anything to get them to mount up, they certainly don't just drop in? or did you just order the proper switch from a 2007?

I hate that about honda/acura, simplest remodel won't fit previous years (atleast for cosmetics). They should do more like VW where the appearance changes, but fitments are the same. Ex: A VW golf mkv dashboard can fit in a mkiii.... IMO its a good way to make $$ off newer parts rather than raping us on prices...

Kennedy u got mail....

Nope, they dropped right in.

I have no idea why they won't fit. They were a perfect fit on my 2005.
Is it the faces of the buttons that won't fit in the openings?

So mad right now. The custom cut side came out near perfect. I was ready to mount this bitch last night, then I ened up wrestling with other side buttons for 45 minutes.

I'll snap a picture tonight... the buttons fit, but the alignment guideposts and screw holes are off. I'd need to oval out the mounting points to get the mounting screws in.

2005 PN for the switch:
35155-SEP-A01 SWITCH ASSY., ILLUMINATION CONTROL

2006 PN for the switch:
35155-SEP-A01 SWITCH ASSY., ILLUMINATION CONTROL

2007 PN for the switch.
35155-SEP-A02 SWITCH ASSY., ILLUMINATION CONTROL

2007 Type-S PN
35155-SEP-A61ZA SWITCH ASSY., ILLUMINATION CONTROL

I figure the 2007 TL and Type -S switch are the same part, just with different color bulbs.

Dave,
I ordered this cluster bezel: 77200-SEP-A02ZB PANEL ASSY., METER ( XN SILVER )

Can you somehow verify (via receipt or something), that this was the part you ordered 6 months ago?

I have asneaking suspicion that Acura superceded (updated) the part you ordered with a newer version, which I have... which means I may now need a new button.

I'm Betting Acura Changed Suppliers

That's the only thing I can think of. The design of the Bezel or the 08 switches changed. That's weird. Be patient though. You should be able to adapt your switch to it. If you've gotten this far you've got it made.

Dave...
Check this out.

With the bottom mounting point in place, all you need to do is install the screw...

Here's where the other mounting point lies... A good 3mm or so offset.

Anyway, I've ordered the TL-S max/illum buttons. What's another $22 after ordering a $38 bezel and spending 6 hours hand filing on it... It just trips me out how your buttons popped right in.

Look how clean my cuts came out, pretty proud of this one:

That's crazy!

I would have just epoxied a new post in, but I know how tiring this project is. It's probably worth getting a new switch for a few $$'s and not having to dick around with it. Look at it this way, you probably would have paid 60-70 bucks for the bezel anyway. It's worth it. It really enhances the dash appearance.

You're cutouts look great !!
Good job!

So to the members that have done this... let me get this straight, the silver/gray rings are molded onto the new bezel and can't be separated? I'd like to do this mod but not sure if I have the patience to do the cutting and filing it would take.

Just looking at this gives me a headache. I can just picture myself filling away for the whole night and realizing I've been filing the wrong side.

The silver/gray rings easily seperate from the bezel with a couple of screws. The problem is once removed, they don't "bolt on" to your old bezel that has the holes. So the choice is, find a way to mount the rings to th eold bezel (molding is very different, impossible once you compare them), or make the holes in the new bezel and install it... Which is the approach DaveD and I have taken.

I was up until 1 am 2-3 nights working it. Only work time I have is after the kids are off to bed. I had some crazy dreams, and delirious mornings.

Dunno. Sounds like the ID-10-T switch behind the counter. I ordered from acuraoemparts, had it in 5 days.

Thanks Kennedy for the quick response. Hopefully someone can come up with a way to do this with less work. Maybe someone can manufacture some aftermarket rings that will fit the 04-06 TL's.

Bumping this way back from the dead.

I finally retrieved my dremel from my moms house, so it's time to do this. The question is, what's the procedure to get the bezel out? Which corner should I pull from? Looking at the type-s bezel, I'd say I pull out/down from the top middle. I just want to be sure before I break something.

2 clips on the bottom ends, and 2 clips in the top middle section. The top middle sections as pictured are the metal type connectors, and bottom ones are the regular plastic type ones

Just wanted to post a minor update. I started this last night, I got all the cutting done, now to do some sanding and paint.

But let me make this clear, it does seem rather easy, but it's not. Getting a good template for the holes is difficult at best, and cutting this kind of plastic with precision isn't a walk in the park either.

I ordered the 07 type-s bezel. Both buttons on each side needed modding. The one of the left one screw works of the two for the switch, you have to epoxy the other side in. Also, the silver on the rings don't match 04-06 silver, and the actual bezel color (although still black) doesn't match either. It's duller and slightly blueish, the stock piece is dark black with a satin finish (trim paintish). So I'll have to paint it all.

Should be done in the next couple of nights though.

So you are going to paint the silver trim to match? Which color code?

I figured I would just go and get some silver paint that has the same shine and color depth that the 04 silver does...
