That... is exactly what I expected would have to be done.
Good job, but none the less, that is way too much work for 3 silver rings.

Glad you like it.
Congrats.

That's where the "Patience" really comes in

That's where all of the real work is. Making the cutouts look clean and OE.
It took a lot of filing and fitting. I'm pretty picky so that's why it took so long.
They look clean though.

You have no idea how many requests I've had to do just that.
Like I said in last year's posts, "it's a bitch!". It was pretty time consuming.
Somebody with access to a CNC setup could make a small fortune making these things. Anybody want to step up?

how do you remove the bezel. The 07 bezel clips fit perfect on the 04-06 holes.

Easy enough VMT....

Tilt the wheel all the way down to make it easier.

NO TOOLS REQUIRED - Grab the bezel and gently pull by grabbing the middle sections between the gauges. Wiggle the top out first then the bottom....... just be gentle and it will release. Look back a few posts and there is a pic where you can see where the 4 clips are on the back of the bezel.

Pull gently and keep in mind there is a harness on each side -

The Aspec wheel is about $300 new from ebay dealers

the steering in the picture is not the A-spec, it the Carbon Fiber steering wheel. I want to do this but don't have the tools.

All you need is a few torx bits, a ratchet and sockets, and $12 steering wheel puller from autozone. The directions are very thorough. Go for it.

I was joking about the blue LED (Kennedy is the blue LED master) but you can change out the 4 MID/MAX bulbs to red to compliment the gauges.

Bear, I was trying to find some pics but no luck so far. The Aspec wheel has blue stitching and gray perforated leather around the thumb area of the wheel.......pretty nice looking IMO....

its also fatter. i had a loaner without the aspec wheel and i wanted to give it back as quick as possible. the fatter wheel really makes a difference. the skinny stock wheel made my hand hurt after an hour or so of driving. i cant say this enough, the full aspec is the way to go.

I looked on ebay and I cant find no Aspec or CF steering W.
I dont want the 3 spokes I like my 4 spokes and its the first time I saw the CF Steerign and it would look damn nice with my CF ASPEC interior.

Where can we get them and how much are they?
Aspec =?
Carbon Fiber = ?

HQ, the existing bulbs in those buttons are blue, but they shine kinda greenish/white. You'd have to make custom blue led plugs.

Both wheels are on hondacuraworld.com they're about $320 or so...

Dude,
You need to search this out a bit,

The 4 spoke wheel in CF or A-spec is about $320 from HAW. It's only the wheel though, you have to farm over all the buttons, electronics and airbag to the new wheel.

The TL-S (3 spoke)wheel is cheap, there's a guys sellingone in the BM for under $100. Problem is you need ALL the elctronics, buttons, clock spring and airbag to install it... almost $1000 in parts alone. Nevermind the fact you'd have to run wiring for the clock spring to make the buttons work... and there's no gaurantee the firmware in the ECU will recognize this. It's an easy patch job, but you have to know what you're doing.

Still, for a $1G... go trade in. That's more economical.

Thanks DaveD!

Following DaveD's write-up, I'm well on my way.

Gotta stop by Home Depot and pick up a set of small files, some JB weld, and those nylon inserts to stick the buttons on.

Cuts are little rough, just used a dremel an a small routing bit, and very steady hand (and a lot of patience). The holes are a little small, they'll widen up enough to get the button in when I smooth em out with the file...

More pics when complete...

Great Job Kennedy!!

Looks great. That's the way to do it now. File a little bit, see if the buttons fit, then file some more, see if they fit... ad infinitum.

I know you're probably thinking this way anyway, but it bears saying...wait until you have the buttons fitting perfectly, then screw the nylon inserts to the switch assembly, and epoxy them in place with the entire switch assembly. That way you can adjust the fit of the buttons as the epoxy sets up.

Almost done...

I took a different approach with the nylon spacer DaveD used. I found some nice machine screws in the garage, and used the god of all fabrication projects, JB Weld, to create studs to mount the buttons to.

The cuts are a lot cleaner looking in person, the camera is zoomed in on it a bit. Once the JB Weld dries, I plan to go at it one more time and try to smooth is out a just bit more...

I'm very pleased with the outcome though, can't wait to get it installed. More pics of that tommorrow.
