2006 TL - Gas Milage Question

Hi Team!

I had recently purchased a new 2006 Anthracite TL 5AT in December.
Since i've had the car, I have been getting about 280 miles from a full-tank to the yellow warning light.

i don't do a lot of highway driving, but is this normal?

thanks in advance!

Are you heavy on the gas pedal? I have about 600 miles on mine and have had a pretty steady 19MPG since I drove it off the lot. It looks like you are getting a little over 16 MPG which seems a little low.

Actually you are getting a very good gas mileage! The yellow light comes up after burning about 13.0-14.0 gallons of gas. So if take your 280 miles and divide it by 14 (gallons burned) you are getting 20MPG which is good for a brand new car. If it only takes 13 gallons to fill up after you see the yellow light, you are getting even better mileage 280/13 = 21.5 MPG

looks like you are getting around 20MPG... if you do au lot of city driving, that sounds about ok to me... I do mostly freeway driving and get around 26

1. Fill up the gas full
2. reset your mileage (trip a or trip b)
3. when filling up the gas next time, check how many gallons you put in
4. MILES traveled divided by GALLONS went into the tank will give you MPG

I have 1700+ miles on my car right now and I only drive in the City and basically back and forth to work (with a little shopping in between). When I very first got the car, I was averaging a sickening 13 mpg; now I'm up to about 17-18 mpg. Huge difference from my previous 04 Accord coupe. But, having the TL and lower gas mileage is worth it to me.

Just my ...

Your gas mileage will increase as your engine breaks in. I used to get high teens at the beginning but now that I have passed the 10,000 mile mark, I get mid twenties with mixed driving.

yeah, i used to get about 360-400 average miles (from a full 17gallon tank to warning light) with my 2000 accord I4, 5 speed manual.

i guess i'm not used to this gas guzzling. is the main reason because it is a v6?

Its a V6, its a big heavy car (its no civic), and its winter.
Wide fat tires dont help, but I can get 34 mpg on the hiway.

My car is at 6 weeks and 2000+ miles and I haven't played with the MID. My driving consists of short trips to work during the week and 360 miles trip north roundtrip on weekends. The trip computer says I'm getting 23 mpg. Not too bad I think.

Well, some might complain that TL isn’t getting a good gas mileage, but I have proven to myself that TL actually gets a decent mileage.

I had ’04 TL 6MT for couple months and sold it because of multitude of problems (neither problem exist on my ’06 Accord  ). I was getting between 22-25 MPG on it. My new accord has about 4000 miles and I am getting only 23-27 MPG doing the same driving, same roads, same distance, same everything except the weather, but let’s say I would gain ~1 MPG due to the weather on my Accord which would put me at about 24-28 MPG.

Here is the trick; I am comparing the i4 Accord 5MT to v6 6MT TL. Seeing the number, the HP, and size of the car, I am being ripped off driving the Accord because mileage is not near where I would like it to be (around 30 MPG combined). Having experienced this, I will give the TL a second change later this year, as I will try to pick up either ’06 or ’07 model.

Enjoy and have fun with the TL as it is a decent car for the money.

It's got a trip computer for heavens sake! Look at it to know what your mileage is.

i know we have trip computer, but it's not that accurate if you actually calculate yourself... i want to find out how they calculate the mpg... but yea, it's close enough with trip computer

I checked against the MID computer for the first 3 tankfuls against calculating it by hand, and the computer was spot-on each time, so In Computer I Trust.

I am getting good milage for my driving, which is a 50-50 blend of city and highway with traffic. Milage new was about 20mpg , now I am getting 22.9mpg. I would consider my driving average, not to mellow and not a lead foot.

Just turned over 2000 miles on my 06 with 6MT.
