Had something similar happen to me as well.
Guy rear ended me while I was at the stop light. He had nothing to say about why he ran into me.

Definitely take it to your own shop to get an estimate, if you let the adjuster come out to your place to check it out you'll get low balled.

I think they wanted to give me about 800 to replace the rear kit and buff out the bumper.

 

I have no idea how fast he was going, and also it's not getting repaired cause it's sunday and this happened around 2.

repairs should be around 1500 dollars, new bumper, a-spec kit rear, new exhaust muffler/necessary pipes, and paintwork. You may also need some metal-work of the underside if the damage is hidden by the mangled bumper.

 

The plastic trunk liner kinda doesnt fit anymore.. just barely
And also the trunk is mis-aligned now. The left side has about a 1" gap and the right doesnt have a gap at all. It actually rubbed some paint off of the trunk lid and the quater panel, I think thats what it's called. But the trunk will still close and open normally

 

Damn dude! Sorry to see anything of that nature happened to another owner. I hope you can get it repaired soon even if it doesn't meet your deadline of prom night. I hope you had gotten a police report out of this and that the guy was charged for "following too closely".

i had a similar hit on my 06 black TL... my fenders did split a little from the trunk, causing a gap of a few mm's between the trunk and fenders, so the fenders had to be pulled, but the estimate came close to $8000. there might be more damage then meets the eyes..

but ill tell you what.. insurance should be giving you about $700 for an exhaust. i would shell out an extra $300 from your pocket, and get the ATLP exhaust. and since you need a new bumper and aspec lip, just get the 07+. it bolts right on no problems.

this may be a blessing in disguise, if you play your cards right.

 

Ouch! Good thing is your safe and the ride isnt totaled. Soon you will have a shiny new rear end.

I don't have $300 to add to get new exhaust. I really wish that I could though. Do you guys think I should take the car to the collsion shops that the Acura dealers recommended (Niello Collision or Cook's Collision) or should I take it to a friend's friend's shop where I could possibly get the 'hook up' on the exhaust. The guy that referred me to his friends shop is really into cars- from looking at his modded 350z. Maybe some holy water and a rosary will just do the trick?!

... sorry to hear this happen. i drove my TL to prom just on saturday 4/26/08. good luck in getting the car repaired. keep us updated on how things are going w/the insurance.. sometimes they can be a pain to deal with. since i got my car back last april, it has gone back to the insurance numerous of times because they mis aligned my windshield wipers cause it kept hitting the edge of the windshield, paint job started to peel, heater was broken... now im about ready to go back in to get my cruise control working.

I'm guestimating that he had to be going atleast 35km/h. I went 20km/h or so in reverse on mines, hit a parked VW Passat... and mines completely cracked apart... the left [driver] side partially unclipped... so the alignment on the rear bumper is off.. but yours is totally messed up. Just get a new bumper... have your friend's garage write off false bills and get more than what you are supposed to.... hahah worked for my friend's Integra--he used the extra money to get a car paint when he fixed his rear quarter panel and rear bumper.

you can totally tell your trunk lid is misaligned in pictures 3 and 4. there might be more damage than what is visable. sucks to happen to such a gorgeous TL. and NBP too...
