2015 Advance
This is petty, but I'd like them to get rid of the cruise control on/off button and light that is in the console.
The button could be used for something else, but I don't understand the need to "Turn On/off" cruise control. If I haven't set it, it's off. If it's on and I want to turn it off I hit cancel.
Am I missing something?

Anyone else waiting for the '06?
My lease on my current car (non-Acura) is up this July. I have decided to actually wait until the '06 comes out to either get the new features, if there are any, or save money on an '05. My wife will not be driving her SUV that much, so we will just have to borrow for 2-3 months, which sucks, but I think it is worth it. I would rather extend my lease, but the leasing company (GMAC) said they couldn't, whatever life goes on.
So anyone else going to wait for the '06?

Funny you should mention that. I had a deposit down on a 2005 ABP TL 6-speed with Navi, but I just went to the dealer this weekend and got a refund on my deposit.
I too have a lease on a car that is up in July. I decided I would be very disappointed if they made some nice changes or offered a Type-S version for 2006. I am going to wait for a 2006 also.
I guess it was all the talk about what neat stuff they could add to next year's model (i.e. live traffic updates, folding rear seat, Type-S version, new wheels, etc.) that threw me over the edge.
I don't think there will be huge changes, but I seriously doubt the car will go unchanged seeing their competition drastically increases with a new BMW 3-series and IS350 for 2006.

I am waiting for the 2006 or 2007 version. I am hoping they offer the TL Hybrid for '06 since gas prices have been hitting me hard. If they add MP3 capability to the stock deck, than I will buy it no matter what .
#129
Definitely agree carguyrob. My big think is AWD, hopefully rev 2 of what they are putting into the RL right now. Would love to see MP3 connection and some other cool goodies, but the AWD is key. Like you said the competition has it.
I have heard so many things, hopefully it will not just be blinker lights in the mirrors, that would blow.

I bet they add the MP3 input though. The RL already has that standard.

We are probably purchasing this summer or early fall so if you get some decent upgrades(less rattles, side blinkers, TPMPS(I hope) then definatly. Generally they bring the priced down about 800 on the previous years.
#132
Wouldn't AWD require an entirely new platform? It's not as if they can simply run a driveshaft to the rear wheels. If this was an originally RWD car, it would be much simpler (a la G35x).
There is no AWD Accord, and the Odyssey/MDX platform is not shared with the TL. I bet there's no AWD until 2008.

We are going to get ours this month or May. If you are planning on getting a TL in July, you should wait another 3 months for the 06 TL. The wait may be even less than 3 months.

That is pretty much why a few of us are planning to wait for the 2006 model. July is really too close to the end of the 2005 model year.
Does anyone have any idea when Acura tends to launch their new model year? I know many manufacturers put out the next model around September, but Infiniti didn't put out the 2005 G35 until mid-December 2004.
I also doubt their will an SH-AWD option on the RL for 2006. That would be a big deal and require some pretty serious car surgery on Acura's part. Mid-model changes are generally changes to the wheels, headlights, tail lights and maybe a few new features.

Since Acura/Honda is pretty good in keeping news away from us in these years, I doubt anyone has known anything here.
Also, if I'm not in hurry to get the car, I prolly would wait for '06 model.

Another feature to add would be the integrate key & fob. They have it already on the Accord EX V-6 Coupes, so it wouldn't be that difficult to change the branding on the plastic and codes. The side blinkers would be nice too, but not deal breaking. But I have to say again, the MP3 option is a must! I am scared about carrying original CDs in my car.

ONE THING THAT I WISH ACURA HAD...for our TL's.....was a new KEYFOB....i can not stand the KEYFOB we have it is disgusting......i would pay extra money to trade in my KEYFOB for something a little NICER....the G35 has a gorgeous KEY....volkswagen and audio's keys are gorgeous as are BMW's....why do ours have to fall under the keyfob style of minivan
some things that i can see VERYYYYY POSSIBLE in the new TL....
1) more 12v outlets
2) bigger glovebox
3) the seats will possibly be tweaked for comfort reasons and butt prints issue (not that butt prints don't happen in every car but to make the life last longer for our leather seats)
4) Restaurant Guide in the Navi
5) Updated HFL system...something more oriented using our phonebooks from our phones things like that etc...
6) Memory Seats for Passanger
7) Possible Aerodynamic Noise Fix....because when driving with your windows down and going fast it is extremely loud in the car even going at slower speeds...
8) MP3 Capabilitiy and having DVD player as an added option for the rearseat passangers.....
9) Keyless ignition is possible but very unlikely in the 06'
10) power-scoping and tilting steering wheel with memory function
11) new keyfobs....others are just disgusting
12) ACURA will change the labelling of thier parts to ACURA and not HONDA because the TL's Headlights say HONDA not ACURA that kinda pisses me off....
13) Illuminated Door Sills

The aerodynamics thing may be unlikely cause it would require redesign of the car. Do any cars have passenger memory seats? I really want TPMS, that is what is most important to me. Its such a HUGE safety feature. Some software fixs are definatly possible.

I would also like to see a hybrid version
Considering the following:
1. gas prices
2. the honda accord hybrid gets better performance (0-60) than its non hybrid version due to the initial boost from it's electric motor.
3. more environmentally friendly
4. did i mention gas prices?

When I test drove the Cadillac CTS V they had the ACTUAL pressure readings from all 4 tires displayed in the console...now THAT is impressive. Acura can keep the crappy yellow LED. I want pressure readings!!!

My '89 Mercedes 420SEL has passenger memory. I believe new(er) BMW's do also, but I've never owned one, just test-drove an ridden in them before.

You get a yellow indicator light that tells you when the tire is running 'low'.

Even if it does, I'm still more than happy about choosing my new TL over the G.
Still love the G35 to death though. Damn beautiful car.

Delima...... I don't want AWD in 2006
I know I am probably in the minority here, but I don't want SH-AWD to be a feature on the 2006 TL. In reading about the 2006 changes, I found this:
http://townhall-talk.edmunds.com/Web...aQ1.1@.ef73dcd
Who knows if it is true or not, but if it is, I may go ahead and get a 2005 now. I was waiting on the 2006 for a possibility of a minor facelift and possibly an upgraded Navigation system. SH-AWD is not a feature I would be interested in. More money, more weight, less gas mileage....
I wish there was a way to verify if this is indeed going to happen or not. If it is, the 2005 is the answer. If it won't happen I will wait. What a delima

Even if the 06 has AWD, I would be shocked if they still didn't offer it FWD only. There is a lot of competition in this class and AWD adds $, they would want to keep a lower cost TL available for those like you who don't want AWD.
Just like nav, they offer it both ways as $2k is too much for many to swallow.
Or, look at the benefit of AWD another way: Get it, and then remove the front driveshafts: Bingo, a TL converted to rear wheel drive! Yippee

This isn't exactly about an 06 TL, but given a lot of the comments in this thread, it seemed like a good place...
Talked to my friend at the dealer, and he said the AWD 300+ hp TL will be in 2007. Not sure if that's 07 model year or 08 model year, but when he mentioned it, I asked "In 2008?" and he said 2007. We'll see...

I'll be honest here. I own a 2004 Acura TL and it's one of the best cars I've ever driven, not so much in term of speed/hp/TRQ but just overall aspect of it. Bluetooth and navigation are my favorite. But I will not buy another TL in the future(2006, or 2007) because I don't think the built quality of Acura/Honda for premium cars are better than Lexus (yes, most of you will argue about the prices of a GS430 vs TL) but as we get older, we get better cars. At my current age (27) , TL is more than enough for me, but I plan to keep this car for about 8 years, so by 35, I hope to drive a S55.

Burning Brakes
As been said, I seriously doubt there will be a drivetrain change in the 3G platform, it will require a retooling of the rear end which will be trunk dimensions and rear seat dimensions to get it in there. Not to mention a lump down the center for the driveshaft, and a longitudinal tranny for it, redesign the engine bay there. Any changing of the cabin for these little lumps and redesigns cuts out of cubic feet on the advertisement, they certainly aren't going to shrink in a mid year change. It's just too much retooling to what is now a 5-year cycle return on investment set of machinery.
And BTW, yes the Odyssey/MDX do share our platform, everything from the Accord to the TL, MDX, Pilot, and Ridgeline are all on the same basic platform base, just some are stretched, or reinforced for weight and/or towing.
Anything that's minor hardware is going to be easy to do, mirror blinkers sure, replace the part# and run a wire and take out the side blinker, easy. NAV software, most of it's on the DVD, easy. Voice recognition, that's in the NAV unit, easy to upgrade (remember non-navi's dont have voice control for the car, only for phone). Headlights, sure, the 2G did it on the front end. All auto windows, sure, add a few sensors, easy to do. 12V socket in back, easy, run a wire and a fuse into the ashtray already back there. That's why big safety changes are announced YEARS in advance, cuz they take years to integrate into a car's design.
And think this.. if they make it every feature of the RL, who will buy the RL. Honda is one of the few companies left in the world that recognizes boundries between their car series. Look at infiniti.. can get that same damn 3.5 in every thing from an altima to the new M35.. whoopie.. what makes you love/hate one or the other when most of it's common. HIDS in the Maxima, no Honda's have HIDS, it's what makes you want to "step up" to the next line or car. Electric tilt/scope steering wheel, it's a luxury you pay for in the 50K car.
And you may think that the TL came out with the Type-S mid-year-change, but it wasn't a tooling change, it was an intake mod, and a freer exhaust, no change to the car frame or structure. didn't even get the 6-speed even tho the twin-sister-CL did.
That's why it's called a "refresh" not a "new car"

VTEC.net just put up an article saying that they don't expect a change until MY '07 (2 years).
So, definately nothing new this year. Not surprising though, I guess.
