2005 TL Newbie here upgrades in the near future

Hi all,

I see this site has a ton of info on it and I am still sorting through it all. I just purchased a n 05 Black TL with Nav and auto trans. In what I have seen so far here are my plans for the near future:

Window Tint. I'm not big on non-tinted windows on any vehicle.

Replacement headlights (they are starting to get foggy) Is there a decent set of clear replacements? where to buy? I will probably also buy new HID lamps too.

Plastidip the front grill (anyone with a black car do this with pics?) Maybe black chrome emblems as well.

Clear Markers front and rear and TL-S style tails

Upgrade rims. I have a new set of 18" tires in the garage from another project that need a home. I'd love to find a set of TL-s rims.

TL-S style red interiors LEDs and white LED courtesy lights and domes

Probably more to come but this is a start on what I am looking at... Any info would be great

1) Welcome to the forums!!
2) Look in the 3G Garage on the main page of Third Generation TL. There is a DIY for clearing/blacking out the headlights. Also, members JnC or Ack05TL will do custom headlights.
3) There are A LOT of pics of Plasti-dipped grilles and wheels in the Photograph Gallery.
4) Clear markers can be found on Uniquestyleracing.com, tail lights also, if you want custom tails look for member Ack05TL.
5) Type-S wheels are 17", your 18" tires will not fit, plus there are tons of aftermarket rims that look much better than the Type-S.
6) The site I used for LED's was vleds.com, look on their Facebook page for discounts. There is a section in the 3G Garage that shows all the exact lights needed for the car.

Use the search function as much as you can and make sure to frequently check the 3G Garage for fixes/questions, it's organized very well and is very helpful. Browsing the photo gallery will give plenty ideas as well. Good luck!!

If you buy from uniquestyleracing use the coupon codes in my signature below for a discount.

Welcome to the site, this is one of the most helpful forum I have ever join.

One tip if I may to save you money is the headlights, buy a 3M restoration headlight cleaning kit. It work for my TL and apply meguiars headlight uv/wax protection afterward so it won't go hazy/yellow again.

This is how both set of headlights look on my TL:

After a little cleaning and polishing:

ps. I know I am showing different side of the car, but trust me both side were equally bad. The 3m stuff work, I thought I've ruin my headlight by using sanding paper to it. Just take your time and follow the instruction or watch the youtube video.

Interesting, I will check on the headlights. I mentioned the wrong rims. It's the A Spec rims that I want in the smoked chrome.
