2005 TL maintenance minder question
2005 TL maintenance minder question
Hi Guys,
I am new to this forum, though I have viewed several threads on it already courtesy of the google search! I own a 2005 TL, which I bought used in 2007. It had around 41,000miles on it. For whatever reason, I got suckered into buying a 50,000 mile free oil change plan with the Toyota dealer who sold me the Acura.
The oil changes were at 5000 miles and would occur before the maintenance minder oil life went down below 20%. The Toyota mechanics would reset the maintenance minder after the oil change. As a result, I never saw the "service due" code.
I was recently trying to find out what maintenance was due on my TL, only to find out that maintenance minder is the only way to tell what needs to be done. The local Acura dealer won't give me a straight answer and keeps referring back to the maintenance minder.
I am at 77000 miles now and really worried that I could have missed some important services on my car. Is there a way to find out what I could have missed? I am thinking of getting the auto transmission fluid, air filter and AC filter changed ASAP.
My normal commute is 10 mile drive to work most of which is at 45-60 mph speeds. I would consider my car to have been driven under normal conditions.
Any advise you guys can provide would be really appreciated!
Thanks!
Jack

I think they should have replaced or cleaned the air filter when they did the oil change.
But if you can't get a straight answer I would definitely just change it all. Better spend the money on that than to run into more expensive issues later.

Do the transmission fluid and the filters-- those were codes 3 and 2. Code 1 is an oil & filter change, and probably comes up every 7K-9K miles. Code 4 probably won't occur until the car gets over 100K-- timing belt, spark plugs.
The owner's manual notes that the owner should change/flush the brake fluid every 3 years, regardless of mileage, and has the maintenance minder codes.
Welcome to AZ.
