?2005 Acuras to come with Michelin RFT?
Announced today by Michelin that Honda and Nissan will introduce use of Michelin Run-Flat technology and tire pressure monitoring system for 2005 vehicles.

I don't think all 2005 Honda/Acuras will have this, but it seems as if the BS EL42s are on their way out. With all the complaining we've been doing, I wouldn't be surprised if the 2005 TL came with this to fix the problem. Good riddance to Bridgestone!

Very very cool.
After so many years, finally a new system for tires and wheels.
There seem to be a lot of positive factors. I like this picture
It shows how the rims have a different design. I can't wait to see this new tech on the 05 TL.
It also improves handling.

I wonder if this system results in making it easier to bend a rim. The tire can only deflect so much before it hits that internal support.
Better watch out for potholes!

Thanks. New rims and new tires. Hope this is the good approach for Acura. Don't make EL42s mistake again.

I wonder what will happen when it comes time to replace the tires. Very little choice of tires that will fit? Probably few aftermarket wheels, either, unless this really catches on. (Sort of like the old TRX system). 50% higher cost that comparable "old-tech" tires? I wouldn't consider the current technology broken or in need of replacement. The cut-away photo seems to exaggerate reality. It compares a thinner rim to a wider one. Another apparent problem, just looking at the cut-aways, is that with the new system it appears that the wheel may be completely exposed to curbs, etc, having no protection from the tire. Our current tires and wheels are bad enough at this.
