2002-2004 RSX Type-S vs TL 5AT

This is gonna' be a quick one guys. Me and two other friends were behind a black 1st gen RSX and he was driving pretty slow and moving in and out of lanes when we were trying to pass. So when the opportunity came up I jumped into the right lane and back into the left lane in front of him. He cut out to the right of me (I was in the middle lane of a 3-lane road) and I heard him gun it. I had a delayed reaction trying to decide whether it was worth it or not with 2 passengers in the car, but, they seemed all for it. I shifted into second gear at 50mph, stopped his pull, and pulled right past him. hahaha. Like 3-4 car lengths between us. Afterward the dude tried to run a ricer fly-by on us and I let him pass to gain some distance (~1 car length) and then I floored it to get him again.

I actually have a video of my stock 5AT vs a friend's modded '05 RSX-S. I barely edged him out (just by a bumper) from a dig to around ~100mph. But I also bounced off the rev limited in 2nd gear for literally 2 seconds. haha

Ahhh! Stock G!! Ahh! We discussed this Eric! lol

*EDIT: From a ~25 roll, I put about 2 cars on the type-S but we didn't get that on video.

SCd rsxs' put up decent peak hp #s but IIRC they still have lowlow torque like 150 ft lbs.

I raced a RSX before I got my headers and it walked me from 30-80. Pre headers I was good for a 14.6 Qmile so they can be quick with the right mods....

RSX with a decent bolt on supercharger you're looking at about 300whp and around 250ft lb, at most.

Yeah I sold my RSX because it was getting old and I didn't like the 02-04 styling. But yeah my Subaru is nice and nice, about to hit 6k miles lol. It drives nice but is slow as ballllls, so I'll be selling it once I get my title in about 2 weeks. It'll sell for 13k I hope, then I want to pick up a 2001 540i sport from my cousin (only if he lets it go for 10k) or a 2001 Audi S4.

a good tuned RSX-S with some head work and minor bolt-ons still N/A would be able to walk on stock TL

Thanks!

I raced a second gen and managed to still pull. From a ~25 roll (1.5 cars+) and a dig (bumper length). But I had no passengers and mild weight reduction.

are you crazy? an I/E/RH/hondata RSX will rape an automatic TL...They can run low 14's easy, which will beat most TL Type-S's. when you start talking forced induction your getting into the 300whp range and then forget it.

No doubt about that. But I don't think AtlM5 was saying an Auto TL could keep up, lol. He was just guessing how much torque they put down: "Maybe its not that low ~200ish...either way hes got now shot without FI."

I said SC rsx-s put down 300whp and like 210wtq and with the weight difference you'd need FI to keep up. But a bolton/hondata is beatable without FI for sure. And don't come back giving me quarter mile ETs to prove I'm wrong.

they dont need any head work...a tuned RSX-S will walk on a base automatic TL unless its high rolling start

Would rape the TL w/ even just a decent tune. Don't even need a supercharger.

I/H/E & a good tune, & the RSX becomes a quick little car.

Agreed, for the most part.

Well new it's like $1200 but I got mine off the BM for ~$400...honestly I would have lost my license if it weren't for it. Def. a solid investment and it beats out all the newer systems in radar protection.
