1st Report From New York Auto Show
OK gang, here 'tiz:
Acura has its usual spot in the right rear corner of the hall floor. And guess which car is setup to greet you at the front corner when you get there....nope, not the new RL....
But none other than (MY) Deep Green Pearl/Camel/6MT/Navi !!
I somehow knew one would be there..
There's 4 TL's on display, (mine of course, with A-Spec added), an Abyss Blue Pearl/Quartz/6MT/Navi, a Silver/Ebony/5AT/Non-Navi, and of course, the A-Spec Concept with that awful red interior we've been reading about. Of the 4 TL's, the biggest and most admiring crowd was around the green.
The new RL looks HOT!!! Of course, no one's allowed to go near it as it turns on its display. A working mockup of the new SH-AWD system shows exactly how it works, a very brilliant design. The new Nav system is portrayed on a large plasma TV. The new graphics and traffic re-routing system make it a whole new ballgame.
As for the so-called competition, here's what I experienced:
-Sat in an AWD G35....NOT IMPRESSED!! I found the seating uncomfortable, the interior cheap and flimsy, and only a 24 MPG rating highway.
-The Cadillac CTS's interior seemed cheap although the V8 sport model was a little better.
-The Lexus ES330's is a lot more luxerious then the TL's. You can't have BOTH a 6 disc changer and a Navigation system in the same car, its one or the other. What's up with that Lexus?
-I did not find the BMW 330's seating as comfortable as the TL's.
Here's a good time to get on the forum's admins case to get the gallery working again as I would upload all the pics I took if it was working.

I've got an 02 ES300 (really the same car as the 330) and although the interior is a bit more plush than the new TL, I wouldn't call it much more luxurious. Somehow the TL strikes me as "sporty luxury" and the ES as "lay back luxury". Does that sound weird? I'm waiting on my new TL in May.

I should go. Not only do I check Acura's new info, but also survey all other competitors' new improvement, such as so-called new interior design G35... true or false...

I'm planning to go next weekend to experience the cars for myself... Was there a sample of the concept NSX there? I want to see that.
I will probably also do the comparo you did DMZ and try to sit in the so called competitors of our cars. I think I will not be impressed by the other cars as I love my TL a lot, inside and out.
I will take a good look at the RL though... SH-AWD will come soon I guess for the TL. That should silence the folks at the car mags who keep ranking the TL lower because it's not RWD.

DMZ-
Thanks for the report.....did you perchance ask one of the Acura engineers on the floor what changes we would expect in the 2005 TL? Or was it all about the RL?

The NSX on display was the '04 in what I saw as classic fire engine red, yicch!
OK Ken7, maybe the word I should have used was plush, and yes it was.

I was just at the NYIAS today and saw the A-Spec Concept. Anybody know what the word is on the HP/TQ numbers?? The spec-board only indicated "Highly tuned 3.2L SOHC V6" (or something to that extent). Could it possibly have the same 300hp+ motor mentioned on TOV??
If anyone knows, holla back?? (pardon the ghetto-ese)
