1st gear jumps / pops out w 6MT (VIN ~ 10K)
I wanted to find out the latest status of a fix for the 6MT jumping out of 1st gear.
Apologies if this topic has already been resolved but I somehow missed the thread ...
I have had my '04 TL (6MT/HPT/Navi) for a few months now and absolutely love it :-) (VIN in the 10K range)! I have just scheduled a service appointment for a couple of days from now to have the usual known issues looked at (tire vibration, seat memory loss, etc).
The main reason I am going, though, is because my 6MT occasionally jumps out of 1st gear. I have had the first such incident about 2 days after I purchased the car and have had numerous occurrences of this ever since (typically 1-2 x a week), the most recent one being a few days ago.
I wanted to do my homework in this area before talking with the dealer.
I remember seeing a couple of threads on this a few months back, but then they disappeared after the server upgrade (or at least I could not figure out where to find them anymore ;-) ... )
At the time, members were reporting that dealers were offering to rebuild gearboxes, while others were talking about replacing gearboxes.
Is this a well-known issue with a well identified fix from Acura, at this point? If so, what is the official Acura policy regarding this? Or are the dealers just replacing parts at random?
Since this is such a new car, if necessary, I would rather have the dealer swap out the gearbox than mess with rebuilding it. In addition, I would like to make sure that such an operation will indeed fix the problem.
Could you provide me with your personal experience in this area, and/or point me to a thread that lists the resolution?
Thanks,
nca.
P.S: Feel free to PM me, if you prefer, and I will post the response summary for everyone afterwards.

an Acura has-been
There was a thread on this, long ago, some of the first 6spd's had this problem, one had a new tranny installed (after they tried to replace some incorrect gears diameters I think). Bring it in for sure.
Good luck!
