14K miles for $26.5K

Yes its one of those thread again but I need your opinion. I found a Type S with 14,000 miles going for $26,450 is that a good price? How much should I offer? Thanks.

Sounds reasonable to me. 14k miles is pretty low...didn't know any 3rd gens existed with kind of mileage. Where'd you find this....in CNY??

-_-

Anyway sounds reasonable if it has no problems at all; however you just cant go by what the odometer states to consider this a steal. Have you look into it?

Have a mechanic check it out. Check the front end, rear end (giggity), and frame. Check the Carfax, and if everything checks out, I would offer no higher than $25.5K.

Is the car AT or 6MT? I suspect at this point if the seller had a clean type s with such low miles and a 6MT he'd know it could command a bit of a premium.

That's a reasonable price, but you could try $25.5k

No. No more then 24k.

Even though it is low mileage, we have to remember it is a 4 year old car (soon to be 5).

Thanks guys. I cant check the car myself because it is not local. Its about 5 hrs away which is not too far IMO. Carfax checked out but we all know Carfax doesnt show everything. KBB shows it is $240 above retail value.

^ Thanks Champ, I'll look into that.

Anyway, upon my request for more pictures, I ran into this picture...

...a rocker switch, does that mean this car have been tampered with?

That toggle switch is the same that comes with DEI (Viper, clifford, avital, etc) remote start/alarm units. So the car likely has or had a remote start. Or simply the owner had one of those switches around and wired in something else.

MAKE sure you get someone to overlook it and check for everything as previoius purchase mention. And I swear carfax is a POS..it never shows anything or shows stuff late. I think autocheck is better.

if its a type-s, shouldn't the fog light switch be in that location?
Does the type-s come standard with fogs?

I wouldn't worry too much about the rocker switch. You can always disconnect whatever it does and put another blank in its place to go back to stock. Use the toggle switch for more leverage on a lower price (e.g., but this car is not stock- I need a lower price!)

I have a the exact same rocker switch in the same location. I put it there to control whether or not the parking lights come on when I remote start it with my Clifford. Most of the time, I prefer the "stealth" remote start. I don't like to advertise that my car is running unattended by having the parking lights on.

Just ask the seller what the switch is for. It could be set up for valet mode or something else on an alarm. Or it could be for something else. Either way, it's not a big deal IMO. And if it has a DEI remote start/alarm, it's a big plus.

Last November I paid 25.3K for my certified 07 Type S with 17K on it. I thought it was a good deal due to the super low mileage. I knew I would be keeping it for a long time so it was worth it to me. I haven't regretted it for a second either.

I think it's a good deal for the mileage. As we know there are not many with mileage like this for a 3G TL-S. You could always pay a couple thousand less for double the mileage (which is still not bad). I lost out on an 07 TL-S w/ 19K miles. While I was playing hard ball, another person picked it up the very next day. The dealer was firm at $27K.

When I sold my 07 TL-S, I left a red rocker switch it in for a dvd player I had installed. You never know what it's for unless you ask. Good luck on the purchase!

Have you been perpetually drunk since the 4G debuted four years ago? Take a long hard look at one after the hangover's gone and you'll see part of the reason clean 3G's are holding strong resale value.

Best bet, as always; take it to the dealer for the 150 pt inspection and overall diagnosis of the vehicle. Generally that's what strikes fear in the heart of the previous owner. But if it is coming from a person they generally try to sell it for cheaper than what it is.

Personally I'd rather have higher mileage and better price. I suppose some people look purely at mileage but higher mileage doesn't really bother me much.

You can get them with 50-70k for under 20. I mean like 18k. Is it really worth 7k More because it

a. Had a 2 mile commute per day
B. sat around for most of the last 4-5 years

Neither of which sound super appealing to me.
