So I did this DIY the other day but now I've run into a problem.
When I took it out for a drive after, my car wouldn't shift past 2nd even in tiptronic mode. The speedometer stayed at 0 the whole time so I took it immediately back home. I unplugged the battery for about 20 minutes and reset the ECU. Turns out the car won't even start after that. When I crank, all the lights start flashing wildly and when I pop it into neutral to start I get a "Check Starting System" message on the MID. I rechecked everything and it's all plugged in properly.
Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated. My car won't start

did you plug every harness/connection back in? take off your front drivers side wheel and make sure every connection is secure and that you didnt miss anything.

Yes I had the drivers wheel off earlier. Turns out one plug wasn't properly put in and was loose so I plugged it back in. I checked the others and they appear fine. My strut tower and intake is still off at the moment since I have no idea what to do.
I unplugged the battery again and waited about 20 minutes for a reset and then manually did the ECU reset as well but still same message, "Check Starting System".
Could this be a major coincidence that my starter has gone or did I do something wrong during install?

if every connection is plugged back in...EVERY single one, you should be fine.
you didn't accidentally switch around the switches did you? you made sure to put the 3rd and 4th switches where they're supposed to go right? check out the pictures in this thread one more time (page 1) and make sure you did everything shown in the pics.

I had 3 switches, one of them 28610-RKE-004 which had a black plastic end and two 28600-RKE-004 which had beige plastic ends. The black one went behind the drivers side wheel and the other beige ones went below the strut tower and under the intake.
I'm quite certain every switch is plugged back in. I didn't remove anything else so not sure why it's not starting back up.

^might be a starter issue since you said you had one. could just be a shitty coincidence. it's hard to say, i'm not there and able to look at your car!

^^i will repeat what Aaron said....MAKE SURE ALL THE CONNECTORS ARE PLUGGED IN.....
not only your 3rd and 4th pressure switches but your intake or any other connector you might have taken out....double/triple check the connections and try again....
if you think its the starter, take a ratchet to it....just hit it couple times and it will come back up.....
if it does, take it to autozone/advance auto parts to get the electrical system inspected....dont worry, its free LOL

Strangely enough after taking off the battery, making sure everything was connected, and plugging the battery back in led to the car starting. I did have a mobile power pack hooked up since it seemed like the battery was dead. Perhaps it was taking off the terminals to the battery that dislodged some corrosion/a film that was preventing the car from starting up. I did take a brush to the terminals earlier so not sure what that's all about.
Needless to say, I took it for a drive and I have to say I'm quite impressed with how much smoother the shifts have become. My shifts were becoming quite rough especially when I did spirited driving.
Thanks for the great DIY and support from you guys.

Gentlemen...
Owner of a Company President's '07 TL-S that was depreciated to $10k prematurely this past year so I bought it in great shape with 119k miles. Tranny JUST began acting up a BIT on spirited driving, and despite a 1x3 still some slightly "glitchy" behavior... so I priced a used, low mile tranny unit at 36k mile for $1,000 even and $500 or less to drop-n-swap, then did my homework in Acurazine and ordered the switches and gaskets as my FIRST option.
I expect them to arrive this week, service the tranny on Friday or Saturday and I'll report back on MY experience asap! (Car has 131k miles now... runs great!)
...figured this thread could use a pic or two... and since I just found the glitchy tranny after swapping out with the Supra last weekend following a VERY spirited "BOOSTED" ride-a-bout... I decided to share in my shed-o-round-robbin-swap...
Hoping this DIY takes care of my issue while it's still MINOR!

2008 Acura TL Type - S with 61,500 miles! Yesterday, I did my first 1X3 Transmission Drain and Fill and it turned into a 1x4. I ran my car for 10 minutes then took it around the block and it drained exactly 4 quarts of transmission fluid. I used some drive up Rhino ramps! I will say after filling it with 4 quarts of Red Line D4 ATF the drive is so much smoother! The magnetic drain bolt had a lot of metal shavings on it (pictures to follow) and the fluid was darker red. I drove about 50 hard miles and today I did another drain and fill (4 quarts again) and look forward to driving it tomorrow morning! The fluid is still very similar to the color of the first fluid change!

TA-DA!!!
Did my three sensors today. Ordered from the Peoria location as linked earlier, thank you! Printed the basic tutorial but was out of paper (four kids... it goes fast!) and had to use sheets that had STUFF drawn all over them! DOH! Hard to read, and I accidentally mistook the one pic as the RIGHT wheel removed... DOH AGAIN! Put the car back down and did the LEFT wheel as actually shown in pic... then the sensor "in" the wheel-well on left-front. No sweat. (Pull the harness securing clip, that definitely helps the access.) Then I studied the pics and recommendation to remove the one hose and do the other REAR sensor from above... but it looked like I could access it from BELOW easier while looking up from there, so I used JUST the 7/8" deep well and ratchet and got to it (yes, I had the under-tray removed) and had no problem once I carefully squeezed my arm up in through the tight access space.
While I was still HALF UNDER the car, began to sprinkle... then RAIN HARD! Had my 6 year old run over and grab my BOSE sound unit and iPhone 5 that was playing Pandora at the time to get it out of the rain... and... CRASH! He DROPPED them BOTH as they were slick from the initial raindrops!!! DOUBLE DOH!!! (fortunately, no damage...)
A couple hours later, I backed the wife's FJ Cruiser out of the garage (still raining) and pulled the TL-S in to do the top/left (under intake) sensor. Since I have a K&N straight-filter right on top above the cold-air channel, it was one simple band-clamp removed and the filter off... then the intake "lower box" piece out and easy access with a 3" extension and 7/8" deep socket. That sensor took just 10 minutes, and DONE!
Although it was still raining, I went out for a late evening drive to "test" it. Since I JUST DID my 1x4 (I've done several in the past few months, so it's fresh) I figured it's good to go.
AMAZINGLY smooth compared to before, and NONE of the "glitchy" behavior I was having! Ran GREAT for the moment, so now I'll have to see how it runs for a longer drive with proper load on dry roads to REALLY confirm if that truly resolved my tranny behavior for good!
Long story short, final verdict to come, but the job was NOT too difficult and for $125 ish shipped to the door, if it solved my ALMOST tranny replacement job, an AMAZING deal. If you DON'T have a "serious" tranny issue in the making but it is "aging" of not behaving as well (smooth) as it USED to, I'm absolutely certain this is a good service to perform.
Thank you to OP and others for the information. That's my story so far, and I'll post at least one more update once I've really put the car through it's paces and determined if my tranny behavior is resolved for sure.
^^^ Gratuitous pics... and reason intake side was simple for me!

What did you ask when getting a quote to change the sensors? I tried asking the service rep out here in Hawaii and she couldn't give me an answer without having me come in and have them check my car to see if it needed to be done.

UPDATE:
After well over a week of both mellow and aggressive driving, I am very happy to report that my shifting went from bordering on "failure" (a clear malfunction including noisy and "glitchy") to smooth and sure with good engagement, transition through gears and smooth performance throughout after this simple procedure. Small price to pay for a big improvement that could have cost a ton of money if either misdiagnosed (as originally inclined) or otherwise dropped off at a stealership.
THANK YOU to the OP and those who have contributed to this thread. Everyone with a TL should at LEAST read and consider this maintenance/repair before springing for any other major service when the tranny is misbehaving.
NOTE: Another sign that led up to my misbehaving transmission was a "rattle" on gentle acceleration from just a bit above idle to gear engagement, and a soft "clunk" that was becoming more noticeable over the course of several weeks leading up to "slipping" or otherwise "mis-shifting" behavior... just before I did the sensor service. Keep a lookout for such symptoms, then consider this DIY!

+1 for the update. Since i have to jack all 4 wheels next month to put on the winter wheels...i decided that at 67K might as well do the plugs and all 3 pressure switches (ans also swapping in new brakemotive rotors and pads...in for a penny...)

I'm a newbie here but not to Hondas/Acuras. I purchased a 08 TL base back in March with 29k as I needed a sedan to transport clients. My former ride was a 2003 CL-S 6MT coupe. As everyone here (should know), the 04-06 TL's have different part numbers as it uses the old 3 shaft tranny design. Starting in mid 2005 Honda introduced a new 4 shaft transmission for the 2006 Ridgeline and slowly implemented the new tranny to other Honda/Acura V6 models. The 07-08 TL's use the new 4 shaft design, that's why the parts numbers and procedures are completely different.
I would like to thank AcuraZine and supporting members for these informative threads as I'm experiencing the 3rd to 4th gear shudder and slightly harsh shifts. I will soon replace the switches and perform a drain/fill soon and report back. Again, thank you.

I'm going on 48K since I made the switch and it still runs very well. I'm planning on doing it again in the spring. Should be a good time to do another 1x3 as well.
Maybe even brakes. I've put 60K miles on the car since I purchased it and have not changed the brakes yet. Pads still have a lot of meat left and no real shaking when braking. Hopefully I didn't just jinx myself.

Damn I gotta do this. My transmission shifts fine, but it does have some hesitation and definitely doesn't shift like it used to. As soon as it stops being 10 degrees outside. Brr.

So what do you guys think is the max interval for this preventative maintenance?
The TL is my wifes car, so I get little seat time with it and simply don't have enough time with it to get a feel for the car and its transmission health.
I think I did the sensors and tranny drain/fills with Redline around 70k. She's approaching 105k now. I was thinking about doing them again maybe around the 50k interval, or around 120k miles.
Your opinions?
