105,000 mile service

I had the 105 K service done last month on my 08 TLs and I couldn't be happier with the way the car is running. Maybe it's me, but the car seems to be pulling stronger. Gas mileage is good, in fact it has been good for sometime now. Along the way I had a couple of transmission fills and drains and the regular maintenance that comes with an automobile, it's a great car.

Bill, did you have a valve adjustment done as part of the service? If so, that can not only improve your fuel economy, but it can also make your car feel like it runs all that much better/faster. It won't turn the TL into a drag car, but it does help just that little bit. The rest of it is the placebo effect playing tricks on your mind

I believe honda recommends doing the valve adjustment only when you do the timing belt, but I have friends who do it yearly. They do it themselves, so there is no cost beyond time, but they save a couple hundred bucks on fuel by the end of the year. It's kind of crazy.

105 service

I used an indy who is quite good, I believe he said he would do a valve adjustment if needed, can't be sure. I'll check the invoice.

IMHO a yearly valve adjustment will do nothing for the performance. Most find that even after 100k miles the adjustment is out maybe .001", and the same with the change of the timing belt and new spark plugs, no change, unless the belt has jumped time or the plug(s) have developed a dead miss.
