i pull up to a light the other night and look in the lane next to me and one of my friends with an 08 lancer ( not an evo) pulls up next to me..we chatted for a second then he floored it.. i floored it right after him ..we were about dead even until my vtec kicked in and i pulled about a car and a half on him then had to shut down cuz my turn was coming up...although i eventually passed him i feel i should have won by more against a car with about half the power of a TL..anyone have any input? both cars were auto, btw

well, you punched it after he did, that gave him like a 1-2 sec lead depending on your reaction time. I mean, when you saw him punching it, he was already accelerating, then you had to react..floor it...the car took some time to react...you know what I mean...lol...

I hope that's the ralliart...which is a 236hp turbo compared to the 150hp regular lancer with a slushbox automatic.

Man i hope it is, cuz the TL can't be that slow from a dig lol. From a roll u woulda killed him.

nah its the reg one thats y im so curious as to y it was as close as it was..he did floor it before me and my vsa was on so maybe it was just those factors...i would love to race him from a roll to smoke his ass

I dunno, I had an '08 loaner TL and that thing was pretty sluggish from a dead start. Acura could learn a thing or two from Lexus/BMW on how to build a strong automatic. Part of it is probably due to the drive by wire throttle, but it took what seemed like forever to kick down once moving.

one of my buddies has an 08 lancer gts which i raced on the highway...well you can hardly call it a race...the tl should do circles around that car..by the end of the highway couldnt even see him in my rearview anymore lol
