07 Type S Tail Lights - RICEY??
Hey guys,
I'm debating on whether to get the 07 Type S tail lights but I've gotten feedback that the lights make the TL look more ricey.
Agree or disagree?

As the owner of a NBP TL-S I guess you could say my opinion is biased. I personally love the TL-S tails, but don't let anyone make the decision. The tails look great day or night. It's your ride do what you think looks good!

I prefer the TL-S lights over the big solid red lights I have on now....The TL-S shows more detail.....I plan on picking up a pair as soon as I can....
So I would say no they are not ricey.....but I do wish we had a wider veriety to choose from......

Stick with the stock 04-06 style. Plain, understated red...the way they should be. The lines of the TL don't need any shiny crap to enhance them. The Altima's tail lens make me wretch. The Type S lenses aren't that bad but they are a step in the wrong direction Yeah, I know this won't be popular.

did you guys check out the group buy of the tail lights and side marker lights thread a few days ago? I bought a pair and it's arriving this friday the price is so awesome, even the heavily discounted acura parts dealer can't beat

I was pretty worried about this actually, and I can report that the tail lights look great. I'm pretty conservative in my automotive tastes, and I wasn't sure the whole Type S package was for me, but I'm unbelievably happy with it.
Definitely not ricey.

It really depends on your color some do look better than others, plus tinted windows also help set them off
Plus you have to have the 07 type s sidemarkers or they do not look right doesn't flow well

I personally think it's a really cool mod on an older 3rd gen - not 'ricey' at all.
I'd do it myself, if I wanted to drop 3 bills to replace something that is in perfect working order

Not ricey at all........just changes the look of the tail end.
It's the same as clearing/blacking out your hedlights......would ya call that ricey?
Most of us add them because we like the look in general - not because we want our TL to look like a TLS

Changing the tail lights isnt ricey. It's the tail lights that are going in that make it look cheap. Personally, I think the design of the 07 TL-S tail lights look cheap, doesn't flow right. I prefer the 04-06 simply because they make the backend look CLEAN, like the rest of the design of the car.
On second note, I'd swap out my rear sidemarkers for the 07's. Smoked in the front and red in the back just doesn't looking right to me. Now where is that group buy!???

Personally if the lines on the Tail lights were solid black instead of that greyish color, I think the tailights would look even hotter. I don't mind the solid red to be honest.

it's not ricey, but it's not as flashy as the LED taillight pattern on the new gen MDX. i like the MDX's LED's. it reminds me of the ones on the current Accord and on the Infiniti's

I actually agree. I don't hate the TLS tails by any means.. I just think something doesn't look right with them - hard to put my finger on it but it just really stands out to me. Like you stated the lines within the tails are wrong and what I would call "overstated" for the rest of the TL lines. To me they already look like aftermarkets.
Are they ricey??? MHO - Not completely......
- Again however, I agree with Adobeman's "wrong direction" comment.
No judgements, just don't completely like them myself.
PS - Sorry folks, no photos handy of me on my Harley-D....

Maybe it depends how the car is. If the car has exterior modifications (wheels, drop) then the TL-S taillights may make it look better. To each its own..

If by 'ricey' you mean they stand out more, then yes, its ricey, but thats a pretty bullshit definition, most of us here want to make our cars stand out, but the execution of such determines if it's 'ricey'.
BUT the word usually applies to extreme mods to vehicles which make them really stand out beyond oem. I also consider 'ricey' to apply to vehicles with mods that make them look cheesy. Since the TLS lights are oem, and definitely arent cheesy, it cant be 'ricey'.
Bottom line, do I think the TLS tail lights look cheesy? No, and although some here probably dont like how they look, I doubt any of them would call the lights cheesy either.

IMHO, anything that's not from Honda or Acura is rice. Why would the TL-S lights be ricey? Because of the looks? I think it looks great and it's an OEM part so it's not like it's aftermarket.
If you put those aftermarket lights on a TL then I think that's rice.
