07 Type S Lighting questions

I’ve been reading around and I’m just a little confused about what lights are which. I’ve found the size chart and stuff, but I’ve got a few more questions cause I am slow I guess.

From my understanding, the main nighttime headlight are HID and don’t double as anything. Then there are halogen DRLs that double as high beams. And then there are the fogs down low. I’ve already upgraded these to LED.

Is this correct? Or are the HIDs the ones that double as high beams?

I’m simply looking for a nice upgrade to my high beams because they really seem to do jack for my visibility. Well, there’s a pretty substantial tint on the windshield and more on the rest of the windows from the previous owner which I’m pretty sure doesn’t help my nighttime visibility but I also think the highs are weak. Thanks.

I think you read wrong, your HIDs do double duty as normal headlights and brights; the only difference is when you click on the brights, a prism moves to change the dispersion pattern of the light from the lamps. Replacing them with LED will do nothing to improve your lighting. My question is why would you bother; the TL with HIDs is arguably the best car I've ever driven with regarding to forward lighting at night.

I wasn’t planning on going away from HIDs, I was under the impression that the DRL’s were just the brights running at a low power so the halogen was what I was gonna upgrade... to another halogen. I know LEDs suck for brights. Thanks for the response!

If you have lightning questions, you should ask a meteorologist.
