'07 TL wood steering wheel

Hi, does anyone here have the wood steering wheel and would like to share some pics, please? I really have a craving for it but would like to see some pics. TIA

I'm having a tough time picturing a TL with a wood steering wheel. Maybe it's because I'm used to the Type S that has no wood in site, but the TL just seems too sporty of a vehicle for a wood steering wheel. I know the older base models have wood inside so it may not be that bad, but even those still have a pretty sporty looking interior.
I have been on these forums for several years and do not recall seeing a single picture of a wood steering wheel on a 3G. It would probably have to be custom since they are not available from the factory. If you can get a perfect match for the factory 04-06 wood then it may be decent looking I suppose.

Incorrect. Here's the 04-06:

Terrible picture but here's the one offered for the 07-08 Base models.

That is the OEM wooden steering wheel that I want to buy. I really love wooden finish since I own 2 Audi's and I think that the dark wood finish on the steering wheel would nicely match with wood pieces on the doors and. I also think that it would give you more luxurious feel... But that's just me :)

Dat price :what:

I think it would great!

Pics of the 04-06 wood steering wheel in my car.

Sorry for the incorrect information.
That interior in the picture above would have looked ok had they not ruined the interior with that stick on wood stuff that doesn't even match the factory wood. Then again, the steering wheel doesn't even match the original wood on the center console. Actually that aftermarket stick on stuff matches the steering wheel. I think that dark wood looking stuff they use in the 07/08's looks a lot nicer/modern than the 04/06 wood. I bet the 07/08's would look real nice with that steering wheel!

The pictures posted of ggesq's car look great because it's a perfect match!

I test drove a base '08 with that steering wheel, it was really nice.

I don't really know if this one is OEM. I have seen this pic before but frankly it looks like a custom job. There is one other pic somewhere on AZine of another one that looks just like that one except with a more cherry wood color. Besides those 2 pics I have never seen the wood sectioned off like that on the steering wheel on a 3G. Though it's not my taste, if that is a custom job, I have to say it came out excellent regardless.

Every other wood steering wheel I've seen for the TL has the wood "inset" into it. That for sure is OEM. I personally have the carbon fiber version which I love, love, love. I'm glad it's inset because it gives the look but the back is still leather to provide grip. If you ever had a wood steering wheel you'll know it gets HOT with the sun, so to have that leather on the back is so MUCH better to hold.

 and :pimp:

kocyk123 06-09-2014 07:23 AM

I also think that the OEM is the one with the insert. For this car I would only prefer the one with the insert since there is not to many wood inserts so you want to keep it constant.

CLtotheTL32 06-09-2014 08:16 AM

The wood wheel rockyfeller posted is the OEM one! My picture posted earlier is incorrect. My apologies.

Here it is:

Looks great.

CLtotheTL32 06-12-2014 07:53 AM

Looks great! I love it!

rockyfeller 06-12-2014 10:10 AM

That's the way wood should be done on a 3G TL! Nice!

doogle 06-12-2014 10:36 AM

What year or trim has that Ebony Wood in it?

Redsand353 06-12-2014 11:01 AM

That looks great. Now it has me thinking about replacing/refinishing my glossy worn down steering wheel, it makes the interior look new again.

GhostTL09 06-12-2014 01:08 PM

that is definitely worth the cash

96SC4 06-12-2014 01:40 PM

Looks great!
