06 5AT vs. 07 TypeS 5AT & Jeep SRT-8

Well, well, well.... i finally got my dream of a completely fair red-light race with an 07 TypeS Auto.... and i WON!!!

the other car did have two people in it, but i have 30lbs rims and a system.

we both slammed the throttle, i had the pull... he held tight... 50mph.. i look over, hes by my rear door/fender..... 70mph..80mph..1 car length ahead.... 90mph... space between the two cars... and 100mph.... blackie' takes the gold...

On the flip side of things the night before, a Jeep Cherokee SRT-8 dogged me off the line. i caught up by like about 80... but he still ripped me apart at the light. those jeeps got some serious TQ... i had one extra person in the car then he did

BtW i am completely modded except for the S/C. ive got Comptech catback, e-shift pros, AEM CAI, UR Pulley, TB spacers

You got your car dyno'd before????

I will have my Comptech catback as soon as it is available but, no plans for the TB spacers or the pulley i dont see them doing very much of anything.

Plus in Cali, the ProCats will fail a visual inspection even though they are CARB stamped (god dam emissions loving tree huggers)

Would like to know what ## you have gotten with everything but SC

227whp..... 90 degree day....not as good as i thought. but others with stock 5AT's put down 202..... it all depends on the machine. i used a DynoJet.. probably the most realistic #'s

hmm i wonder what type of 1/4 mile times your getting with all those mods! I would also like to know what time a stock TL-S 5AT does in the 1/4 mile. Well If you ran your car at the track then we can sort of get an idea.

I am not sure about the rims, but tires might play and important part when dyno testing. I just watch this video from EVO news (British online car magazine) dynoing a Ferrari 599, 1st try, they got 561hp, 2nd try, they changed tires, and they got 621hp. I'd say the tires have some impact on the result, may be not the full 60hp difference, but still, there's gotta be an impact.

when i purchased my tires, i basically bought the highest reviewed and most expensive tires i could find,. $300 a pop! Dunlops. they are amazing....

i think its the added wheel weight thats bringing me down....30lbs a piece is heavy. stock is like 25.... HRE / OZ / BBS are like 20lbs

whoa those rims you got are pretty heavy, get lighter ones man, the extra unsprung weight doesn't help your car at all!

It'll make 5~6whp and wtq difference AT LEAST.

A tuner T.V. show put lighterweight but bigger wheels on their RSX, and even though these wheels weighed 5lbs less than stock, they lost 5whp~ and 6wtq~ and that was with the addition of another mod, so it's more like 7whp~ and 6wtq~ lost.

I'm guessing a stock 5A/T TL should do a 14.6~ ish.

I'm gonna go on a limb here to suggest that Jeep was not WOT when you caught up.

1/4 Mile (sec @ mph): 13.49 @ 102.24

I have 300hp AWD and I can't come close to gaining any ground on those things. If your car can with your bolt ons, I'm seriously impressed!

That is fairly optimistic IMHO but some stock timeslips (5AT only) showing otherwise would make me a believer.

Trust me....once the inertia gets going on those things, its just hard to stop..but they haul bawlz.

I put 241hp to all wheels and the Jeep SRT-8 leaves me way behind! I tried playing one from a light and was embarrassed and once on the freeway from 80mph...still stomped! I don't even encourage anything with an SRT-8 badge anymore.

I'm kinda surprised at your #'s. I have an 02 TL-S and I dynoed 240 whp on a dynojet with I/H/E/P. My TQ was only 200 lbs/ft though. Good job on the kill though, I've been looking for one to stroll with but haven't found one yet.

Thanks...it was actually 237 or something. Here is the link to the thread about my dyno with a pic of the graph close to the bottom of the first page. I was also thinking about getting a 07 TL-S but since I'd be going from 2G to 3G I would have to start all over with mods, and I don't think I wanna do that.

It's a little better than 7 mpg... I'm getting around 14 and it dips down to 12 when I'm doing WOT from lights....

Mileage reimbursement, that's very nice! I guess the fact that you live in the States also helps....up here in Canada, a TL-S costs CAD$47k, average income for the whole country is $20/hr.

Ya...not a commuter car..but GS sells 1 kit for all 4 of the SRT-8's...just some different piping and such for engine bay fitment.

ok ok i need to stop drooling over this car and just say to myself i baught a nice reliable canr that keeps its value well, ok ok ok ok im getting over it wow that was almost a trip to the jeep stealership today. gawd 500 hp/tq those numbers are outrageouse, i would get road rage everywhere i go and pass people on the shoulder of the highway onramp with 500 tq/hp. i would need to buy a new horn after a week from overuse. i would need to paint it like a cop car and give it some flashing ligst and shit to reduce the amount of times i get pulled over.
