05 TL vs Impala SS

Sounds like he is referring to the LT1 powered 94-96 Impala SS (260hp) as opposed to the SC 3800 Series II V6 powered 04-05 Impala SS (240hp).
If he is modified then, it would be a tall task for the 3G TL. But in stock trim, it would be a close contest. Take it to the track and let us know how it goes.

yeah, the caprice-body impalas are pretty nice. although they are heavy as well. as mentioned, a competent driver may do allright against a stock one but you would have an edge if you had a 6MT i think.

I love the old 94~96 Impala SS. They look like a cop car (Chevy Caprice) but nicer design. They're pretty quick but heavy at the same time. I think TL will have the edge, give it a shot. Race carefully, at the track

Highway Patrol/Police in the area a little west of me are starting to use the new Impala SS as their cars, have seen about 3 unmarked now. I recently also saw a Dodge Charger w/ hemi engine unmarked as well.

Good grief I feel bad for you.... Down in VA they still use the old slow impalas, some intrepids, and occasionally an old caprice classic. Getting away from cops is about as easy as cooking a microwave dinner. Not that i'd try to run away from them or anything, i'm just saying, its pretty easy.
