'05 TL Body Kit - True/Total Cost

So, I'm looking to grab this for $1500.

http://www.ronjonsportdesign.com/tlkit.html

However, I'm trying to figure out what the total cost of getting this kit will be. I have the '05 TL in the dark grey color. Obviously I'm going to need the kit painted and matched. What kind of $$$ am I looking at to have this done properly? What about cost to have the kit done and my car wet sanded (Needs visually cleaned up, spider web surface scratches, one or two regular scratches, etc).

Mostly looking for ballpark, also not sure where I should take my car to have this done. I'm in the Tampa, FL area.

DO NOT take it to R&S on Armenia. I'm still dealing with their piss poor job of a repair.

I don't know how much it will cost to have your car wet sanded and to do the kit. I'm sure other, more knowledgeable members with experience will chime in.

I would recommend Salemi's on Armenia or believe it or not, the dealer. I have had good experiences with both.

How much do you think just for the kit? Have you done something similar? I may have to hold off on the wet sanding anyway because I'm tossing my money at the kit

Your car sounds like it needs a good detail to remove the swirls, not wetsanding.

I wouldn't put that Ron Jon kit on my tl if it was given to me for free. It's hideous from all angles.

Why spend $1,500 on a ugly body kit that still needs to be painted when you can get something oem for half the price and it even comes painted from the factory?

Not only is the A-spec kit cheaper but it also looks a hell of a lot better. I know looks are personal preference but that Ron Jon kit makes the TL look like a fat bloated car. Even their wheels are ehh. I'd rather get varrstoen or xxrs

Just guessing but about 500 for the kit. The RonJon kit are replacement pieces. Members with the kit are not common on AcuraZine, so you would be unique. Most do the ASPEC lip add on kit which basically are lips to the front and back bumpers and replacement side skirts and they come prepainted from the factory. You can get the ASPEC kit for a little over 700 bucks from our vendors.

It's your car. Buy the kit that you like. Looks are subjective.

Can you link me to some images, and where to buy? I'll compare and contrast, but I do think the ronjon kit looks nice. Really, what's wrong with this look?

This next pic is basically the look I'm going for. I was going to grab those rims and the kit. My car is the same color:

If you still need paint / body work done in the Tampa Bay area after buying the kit, PM me and I'll link you up to my buddy who is the only guy I let touch my Lexus when I lived down there. I'm most likely driving my TL-S down to have him install my ASPEC kit when I decide to pull the trigger as well as give my car a full detail. He's in Pinellas Park and well worth the drive for the work he does!

I've been looking around for about an hour. I cannot find where to buy the aspec body kit. I've looked through several of the vendor links as well.

The car in your 2nd link has the OEM A-Spec kit that vietxquangstah was talking about. You asked what's wrong with the RonJon look? The TL is a luxury car, not a Civic or a Neon.

So, it looks like I need these three pieces. Am I missing anything?

http://www.heeltoeauto.com/honda-acc...roductid=64761

http://www.heeltoeauto.com/honda-acc...roductid=64763

http://www.heeltoeauto.com/honda-acc...roductid=64762

If so, that makes it $893 + shipping.

Did you see the second thread where it said ASPEC group
buy in the link I provided? 715 shipped if in on the group buy, 755 shipped if not in the group buy.

There is a vendor on here that goes by the username AckTL05. He can get you the FULL A-Spec lip kit painted (if your color is not discontinued) for about $765 SHIPPED TO YOUR DOOR. If you join the group buy list and wait for 10 people on the list the price drops to $715 shipped (I got mine from that group buy)

Do not buy the lip kit from heel-toe auto. Buy from AckTL05 and you will save yourself almost $200.

Thanks. I posted in that thread, I'll probably snag it instead of the RJ for simplicity. Can I install this myself? Not very mechanically inclined.

being a smart ass here, but there no mechanical pieces.

can you measure and screw a few bolts?
might need a buddy to hold things up.

^^ agree with justnspace.

It helps to have a buddy help you. My friend and I were able to get the a-spec installed in one afternoon. You can download the installation instruction from Acura directly. It couldn't get any simpler when it is made from the manufacturer.

It transforms the look of the car to a different level, IMO.

Nothing beats a clean Ron Jon kit TL. Have you ever seen one in person? It makes the car look so much nicer IMO. And it makes it look a lot different, different then every TL on the road.

It's very easy and when I bought mine from the group buy it actually came with printed instructions from Acura on how to install it.

Yeah I've seen it in person before at a car event and still think it looks butt ugly. Probably the most hideous thing about it is the rear bumper. I hate the way the rear is shaped.

The portion outlined in red is what I hate the most.

And yes I agree the Ron Jon kit makes the TL look "a lot different" and "different then every TL on the road" but sometimes being "different" isn't always a good thing.

The Ron Jon kit is overboard in my opinion. A clean TL with just a base A-Spec or Type-S a-spec kit will get my attention rather than a bloated looking Ron Jon TL

Rj kit to me is rice and bulky. 1500$ alone is not even the finish product. Consider you are not even mechanically sound getting that kit to install correctly and painted by a body shop would cost an arm and leg. If i were to throw that kind of money, i would spend it on performance parts. Slap an a spec lip on and call it a day which i think looks cleaner. Thats just me though.
