'05 tl 6spd vs '03 350z 6spd

Finally, a good race! Something besides Civics and GTI's

Had a chance to race against my buddies 03 Nissan 350Z My mods are in the sig and he has an exhaust. First race was a roll from 65mph. I was in 3rd gear and so was he. 3 honks and we hit the gas. For about a second we stayed even then I started to pull ahead about half a car. Shift into 4th and I gain a little more distance on him Shift into 5th and I'm a little more then a car length ahead of him, then when we finally let off. He complains that his clutch is slipping and I say BS Very simple, I shifted real smooth and real quick

Second race was from a stop light. Traction off and waiting like forever!! for the light to turn green I get an awesome start with some minor wheel spin while pulling ahead by at least half a car. Shift into 2nd and I pull even more distance, now he is a least 1 car length away. We stop at 3rd gear cuz we had to get off the out Starbucks exit

My buddy said he was very surprised by the TL, especially now that I beat him, but he insists that his clutch is all fucked up and yadda yadda and so on. Seems like every time someone loses a race, they blame the clutch

I can't wait to take him on again, just to shut him up!

dude you really made me laugh yeah not really hard core mods! i love the exhaust without the resonator!! it sounds a lil raspy at times but overall it just makes me want to build up my exhaust even more! give it a try

if his clutch is really fcked up the his performance would be greatly affected.
Just for you to now, a properly launched Z or G 6 speed, will jump almost immediately to 35-40 mph, with a minimum to no tire spin at all. If you your buddy can't do that, than there is nothing to talk about.

I know he is a pretty shitty driver so even if he fixed his clutch I could still smoke him, probably. Car vs Car, yes I know the 350Z and G35 are quicker!

We know the 350z and G35 are quicker than TL's/Accords from the factory. However, jumping to 35 "almost immediately" is not true. That would mean you'd have to shift to 2nd "almost immediately" after launching . Regardless it should take a bolt-on Accord/TL 6 speed to take a 350z/G35 6 speed.

You don't have to believe me, but I've done it numerous times. And yes, I have to shift almost immediately to 2nd after start.Of course, a stock z takes a bit longer than mine.

LOL at people arguing over something as subjective as "almost immediately".
