Maybe I'm missing something, but how would this work? If it works the way the picture implies, then you have to pull the key out of the fob. What, then, do you do with the fob when the key is in the ignition? Leave it in your pocket? If so, then what's the point? I have a "quick-disconnect" keyring now, that will enable me to separate my key from my fob. What's more, it doesn't REQUIRE me to separate them, like the picture implies with this solution, so my solution is actually BETTER!

Maybe it's just me, but this just seems like a bad idea.

It's the back up key only...

It's keyless system, you don't need to use physical key at all.

While your battery is dead or you have problem to open it (or you disable the keyless system from the "control panel"), that backup key would be the resuce.

Hmm...you think that there would be a way the TL could have that key also? My friends have reprogrammed their keyfobs before but maybe the dealer would do it...

Ok. I got this picture from Acura.com-they have the interactive interior showroom thing up and running! Very nice! I won't be able to afford to buy one, but I guess I can drool on it.

Oh... well in that case... it's a fantastic idea. I would LOVE to have a keyless system.

Hey, man, if you keep posting those RL features, this thread will be categorized as 05RL thread and moved to cars & bikes forum soon...

But, those features are cool, wish TL would have them in the future soon.

Sorry, rets. It is nice though, right? But, if you have an automatic, would you really use it? I almost never use SS in my car!

Ok, no more RL gadgets from me!

Once I read an article where a teleporter was decomposed to get a WBS (work breakdown structure) and all tasks can be done with current technology except for some 6 tasks. Was a very interesting article. However, it will not be a fun like driving TL though.

The G35 has intelligent key now too. The FOB is nice with a key that comes out like the RL.

The key looks cool.

All I want are ventilated seats, power folding mirrors and instant economy, like the RL, TSX navi and Accord navi have.

The intelligent key feature in the 05 G35 is an option but one that I would pay for if it were available on the TL.

Speaking of Infinitis, Check out the beauty of the keyfob for the 2006 M35/45. Puts the RL control to shame:

Wow, you bought an SLK, and I just got a TL to replace my SLK! The SLK is a fun car, but Mercedes needs to work on it's quality control. I hope that my TL does not give me as much trouble as the SLK.

I was thinking the same thing. Unless the key part straddles the fob partly...

They look OK to me. MB has a similar setup with their infrared key system.

If they could just bury a micro chip in the base of my skull so I could operate the windows, doors, etc... then maybe my fob envy would go away!

Kill the thread.

I dunno - It looks to me that concave edges are lined up with other concave edges, and straight edges are lined up with curved edges. I just can't see how the fob/key fit together smoothly.

I wonder how long it'll take for the key to become loose and fall out of the alarm remote.

if acura makes teh key the same as the one that is on the infiniti fx there will be no need to worry about it... i have the intelligent key for my FX35 (although ive only had it for a few months), i dont think the key will have any issues falling out and such, besides if it does go to acura, they arnt going to fight to replace a $200 remote. (im guessing on the price, the key/remote for the fx is $300)

But damn im kinda jealous of that infiniti intell key, come to think of it.. i thought about buying a G35 coupe, too late now. at least our key fobs kill the nissans! also all this wireless tech is cool, i never have to take out my cell out of the pocket in the car, same idea can be used w/ car keys. = P

Look at the picture, I made a red line for you to see the curve (it's hard to see on the original). The other part enter the remote. The black button is to unlock the key and take it off the remote.

no no, not just a key... trust me... its easy to say you wont use it or even care about it..but once you have used it for a couple weeks you will hate going to any car without it...
