He will rape you.

Well maybe not rape, but he will clearly walk you, at any speed, even at 90 and beyond 100 mph. He will walk you.

Both cars being AT, I would have to give the edge to the Camry V6.

You'd be suprised...Go from a 50 roll and shouldn't have a problem. I raced one a while back, it had the wheels and dual exhaust so I figured it was a V6. We went from about 55 and we were dead even then I started pulling. We both let off at about 100.

At 20mph you'll be starting in 2end gear, and as soon as you punch it, the TL will automatically down shift into first gear... a sweet spot. I think it'll be close....

^that's not a good idea because it will take time to downshift. If possible, slide the gear lever to 1st so that you are actually in first gear and shift the lever to 2nd at 6000rpm as there's a delay (it should hit right at the redline once the delay is over).

No. Unlike the Accord where IMA is applied to an already capable V6, the Camry (and Altima) apply it to their 4 cylinder models.

45 to 50 is the best, because you will be in the right powerband in 2nd gear and if you hold it long enough you'll land in the right powerband for 3rd.

Hmm, when I've raced from a 20 roll, my TL down shifts into first gear with no delay. However, 50mph in second gear is also very fast.

Why not race from a dead stop and let the chips fall where they may? They're both autos, so I don't see the problem. I mean it's one thing to play on the highway with a stranger, but if you're taking the trouble to plan a race, why not do it right? All this talk about the best roll speed to "put the TL in its powerband" is so ricer. Sorry guys...

You don't know that for sure. You can always do the ricer roll after the dig race.

Race from a dig and a roll. Its not a bad thing to see how the TL will do. Think of a camry V6 being as fast as a TL 6MT stock. They run similar times. From a dig you might not do so bad. You cannot disable the traction control on the new camry so if he floors it right off the bat his traction control will limit his wheelspin. Giving you a nice start. If he knows how to manipulate the throttle without engadging TCS he will pull on you.

It is probably surprising mostly because the model has always had a heritage of being slow until the current generation. Honestly, I am considering an SE V6 as a replacement for my 07 AV6....that is assuming I cannot get a comparable deal on a leftover 08 TL Type S.

Much my chagrin, my son had an impromptu run with a new Camry SE V6 and he indicated that it just about hung even with his Altima from a standing start...and some of you know how quick his Altima is.

What kind of HP does a new V6 Camry have? My grandma has a '05 V6 and it only has 210hp. My CL-S would take it any day.

ive heard from car mags that the tcs in camrys arent defeatable. my girlfriend has a 2002 V6 Camry and theres no button to turn off the tcs, so race from and dig and see what happens. i launched hard on a E36 M3 from a dig but got owned once we got going, so practice launching, you'd be suprised

Gate shifting is the only way . . . and I anticipate it hitting 6800 and shif, but you need to be quick. Practice some first. Sometimes I get the needle to hit 7000 and not engage the rev limiter.

I think the Camry will win. TL's are slow as hell of the line. My 03 Accord V6 pulls much harder of the line than my 04 TL.

eh, have you actually driven one though? a while back, my family was in the market for a new car - as a beginner i test drove the XLE V6 model. decent car with a lot of power, but the actual feel of the car is HORRIBLE. loose steering wheel and hesitant acceleration, along with its ugly design - gives it an F in my book. we ended up getting a lexus though not much difference lol
but ehhh...it was "her" choice

i no longer have any problems with the stupid camrys anymore in my TL

The design is subjective (though I like it best in SE guise) but from what I understand, the "character" of the new Camry V6 is largely unchanged from prior generation....it just happens to have loads more power than before. Despite the increased power, it still leans more heavily towards being a family sedan than a sports sedan.
