almost got my rear end handed to me!!! (seriously).

coming home last night i pull up to an 08 g35 sedan, (were on a red) i look at him, and he gives me a "im ballin look" the light goes green and we go normal speed. at around 10mph we punch it. first and second were dead even (next light came up quick so we let off.) i was in second when i let off. at this point (i have to admitt i thought i was gonna get walked on, specially if i sat still in first spinning my tires) he had rolled up his windows (hes smarter than i thought. lol) the light goes green and were off! we both had a nice launch. shifted to second and we were still dead even i hit third and i instantly jumped aproximately 1/2 a car on him... i was then slowly starting to increase the gap...i let off right after shifting to 4th. around 95 or so... i got him by approximately 1- 1/2 cars lengh. i slowed down and he just flew by me!!!

I HAVE NEVER SEEN THE FRONT END OF MY CAR LIFT UP THAT HIGH!!!

and i didnt think much of it, till i was lined up and realized those babies were rated at over 300hp. (i knew i would prob get walked but, i wasnt about to back down) in the end, i was victorious!

Ok, second run from the light, if he had a nice launch(like you saying) he should've put atleast a car length on you right from the start( if he knows how to launch),theareafter, you won't be able to make up the distance with new G. Something went wrong, just like it usually happens in street racing.

they are solid high 13 low 14 cars if driven properly. good kill but you probably beat the driver not the car.

i keep hearing about your kill stories and it seems like you know what your doing. i think you should take your car to the drag strip and see how you'll do who knows you might have one of those "factory freaks" and run a low 14 1/4

The performance car mags got 14.3-14.4 @ 97-99 mph, and I think TOV got one to go 14.20's.

im seriously considering it. just need some time and $$$. also, i consider myself a descent driver. everyone always compliments my shifting. so ever if theyre car is faster and i beat them. makes victory even sweeter... my goal isnt to have a faster car anyway, just be the better driver...

The 08 G35 auto, has 300hp rated at 220&230, and 0-60 5.7s. The 6spd is rated at 250&260, and 0-60 5.3s. But the new G37(auto) does 0-60- 5s Flat.

Don't get your hopes up for good times right off the bat. Depending on the track conditions, you may do worse than the street. I've been driving stick since I was 16, and can drive it very well, and my first and only 1/4 run was 14.61 @ 99.32. My 60' was horrid at 2.61. For every 1/10 you can cut down the 60', you'll lower your ET by roughly 1.5/10. My prediction for that first run was 14.50's @ 100, so I guess I was pretty close.

Nice kill! Sounds like me when I first got my car. I thought mine was a factory freek/perfect sleeper. Now everyone can hear me coming!

It's a good idea to get out to the track to perfect your skills, and really see what your car can do. It's all about the driver.

Manual Transmission

Nice run. You had the chance to stay with them or even edge out due to the following:

- TL being a 6 speed stick (Close gear ratio is your friend)
- Very efficient - Minimal power loss in the drivetrain.
- It's lighter.
- Being a good driver.


You should've kept going instead of slamming down on the brake. Should've showed him your 4th gear POWA...... The G35 driver might have assumed you backed off because you have no power on the 4th which isn't true for the 6MT version.

Now if it was the TL Type-S 5AT then the '08 G35 Auto would've spanked it.

i totally understand you! there will always be a faster car out there but if you can beat a faster car with a slower car (not saying yours is slow) then like you said the victory is is so much sweeter. anyways congrats on the kill and try to get some videos next time! and hopefully we'll see an official time sometime soon

Its kind of hard to get a video when you are racing a complete stranger that you see for a few minutes. Unless you are the type of person who looks for races on the street and has a video camera in your car.

yeah, and unless i have a passenger i have no idea how i can accomplish it! shifting with right hand/ and keepiong the wheel staright (torque steer)

The new G37 coupe isn't any faster than the 2g G35 sedan due to the extra weight. The G37 7AT sedan would be a good match against the 335i.
