04 Acura TL transmission cooler

Burning Brakes
Neither - a hot topic with these cars (no pun intended) is aftermarket transmission coolers. I know at least for the 04-06 automatics, there is no cooler - though if my memory is correct, the type S has an external cooler. (Hopefully someone can chime in and confirm/deny this).

If you want my opinion (don't take it to heart), depending on the miles on your trans, I probably wouldn't bother if you have higher mileage.
The modification is a band-aid to existing wear and tear that your trans has likely already experienced. Your rubber seals, o-rings, clutch packs, etc. have already been broken down by regular use. Performing this mod at low mileage would be worth it (again, only in my opinion) to prolong the life of the trans, assuming you were going to keep the car forever.
My original 5AT just ticked over 215k miles. It's performing fine, but I know that it could fail without warning any day. Performing this mod isn't the easiest thing in the world, and it would suck to go through the time, effort, and money only to have a trans failure that may be inevitable in the first place.
Change your transmission fluid (look up 3x3 drain and fill), change your 3rd and 4th gear pressure switches, and change your trans filter. They are relatively easy, and will help prolong the life of your trans without serious investment of your time or money.
