'04-'05 Base TL stock fog melting with hids??

hello all, im in the market to buy new hids and im having trouble finding some legit best bank for the buck hid kits.

im looking at the DDM 55w 6k for my accord fogs in my 05 tl. any one have experience or can suggest a better brand?

ALSO i have read on here that you can not put hids in the stock fog light housing of the 04-05 base tl headlight because they will melt. i did research but i found nothing conclusive to suggest that this is a problem due to the fact that some of you run them with no problem...any imput

you can put HID's in halogen housings, they will just glare like a mofo. Point them down as much as you can!! Also, 35w will be plenty

^^yes. I have a 35w ddm kit in mine. They do glare a little but it's really not too bad. I just don't use them all the time, only when I'm on dark roads with no traffic. The stock projectors are plenty for me anyways, the fogs are just extra. But there is no need for a 55w kit. Especially in the smaller accord housings because they do advise you not to use the 55w kits in small housings because the possibility for melting.

Edit:I don't have the accord fogs, mine are in the stock 04 location.

thanks guys for your quick and helpfull imput, im going to switch to a 35w kit. for both my oem foglamp location in my 05 headlights as well as my accord fogs. as Dsrtne1 said, i will only use them on dark roads as well when no cars are present...the headlamps do provide enough light for most streets anyway.

I had a 50 watt HID on my stock fog never had any melting issues. But since mine is an 04 It didn't come with DRL's therefore It was rigged so I could used them as my DRL's

I thought only the 07 on up came with stock fogs?

For HIDs in fogs, you MUST use the OE accord housings.

I wudnt do more than 35W on the stock housing....if you have lower accord fogs, you might be able to push 55W but I would still go with 35W....

To elaborate, he's saying you need to get OEM accord fogs because they come with glare shields, which do help A LOT, but still produce glare.
