So I was on my way to Dave and Buster with my old lady, meeting up with some friends for some drinks and overpriced games, when I pull up to a left hand turn stoplight with a 350 roadster with a large single exhaust in front of me. In front of him, the first person at the light was a Datsun 610 with some decals and a roll cage. I am not sure if they knew each other but they were both revving up a bit at the red light so I decided to do the same, the guy in the Z looks at his rear view at me and nods like its going to be on. I slap my car into D1, turn off traction control and ask my old lady if it's ok if I get my ass kicked by what I think is a at least lightly modded 350z. So the Datsun takes his time off the line turning left, the Z doesn't jump right away because its a turn, i stay in 1st, follwing the Z we both punch it around the same time, im still turning left a bit so my car starts to pull to the right, no one was turning left from the lane directly right of us, so when my car pulls outwards i leave it out there, shifting into second I spin slightly and my car stays up in vtec passing the Z buy the time I have to shift in into third (75-80). I know he was on it from how loud he was and also giving me the thumbs up after he passed me as I was turning into Dave and Busters.

A real shock to me that I beat him, but I know his car is just as heavy as mine, he might not know how to drive, shifted late, or early, or whatever. I know stock motortrend says 14.2 @98, my car traps just as fast as that, just not as good of a low end, but since it was basically a roll from 25, I could see how I won.

Oh the 610 got killed before we were even half way through 2nd gear.

 

Nice kill. What are your mods, if any? And was the 350z 6 speed or auto? Any passenger in the Z? That's a good kill for the 5AT TL

How much heavier is the 350z roadster compared with a 350z coupe?

 

About 215 to 235 pounds heavier depending on auto or manual.

 

I couldn't really tell if it was manual or not, but considering that I started behind him and beat him by the top of 2nd, Im guessing auto since his gearing maybe wouldn't be as good for dragging.

All I have is AEM CAI, and a cat-back custom exhaust, dropped about 2" all the way around also on stock rims, no passenger in the Z, my car is 3450(confirmed at scale at track), I weigh 260 and my old lady is like 120
