03 Accord V6 5AT vs Nissan Pathfinder 2WD 4.0L
I had a great run with a newer Pathfinder 4.0 this morning on the way to work. If anyone isn't familiar with the Pathfinder, it is one quick SUV. They have 2 engine offerings: VQ40 with 260+HP and 280TQ. Stock they run 15.0-15.3(per dragtimes.com) depending on drivetrain and model with the 4.0. 2nd engine is the 5.6L 315HP out of the Nissan Titan. That Pathfinder runs low -mid 14's easy and there is one on dragtimes that ran a 13.8 at 98 MPH with just intake and pulling out the back seat row, spare tire and jack! Anyway on to the race!
There is the infamous light where I always have my run ins and sure enough this morning a Nissan Pathfinder pulls next to me at this red light. Im in the left lane and the pathfinder in the right. Her lane merges in about a 1/4 mile down the road or less. Usually people are in a hurry on their way to work which makes my morning a little more interesting thanks to this intersection. Anyway the light turns yellow in the opposite direction and I see her start to creep forward. Of course I do the same. Light goes green and she is off hard as I expected. So I put it down around 3/4 throttle and get a little bit of spin but just enough for a great launch. She is right next to me for just a second or so as I slowly start to pull through 1st gear. Shift into 2nd around 5800rpm and continue the pull through 2nd gear
. I look over to my right and she is pissed! She was waving her hands at me and giving me the evil eye, while mouthing some words that I can't hear lol. Little does she know I kept it 3/4 throttle the whole way. By about 60MPH she was at my rear bumper and I shut it down. She fell back behind me still throwing her hands up and showing me some inapropriate gestures haha. I give her the thumbs up just to piss her off. All in all it made my day as I arrive to work with a big grin.
