[VIDEO] Stock Amber Diffusers + 60SMD Switchbacks VS Halogen
This video is intended for anyone wondering what the turn signals would look like when installing switchbacks WITH the stock amber diffusers still in place.
Yeah I know it's pointless to have switchbacks with the amber diffuser in place, but I'm going to get my USR Clear Diffusers install w/in a week and I've been dying to put the switchbacks in just to
1) have LEDs in the front, since i already installed 68SMD red rear turn signals
2) see if I actually soldered my 0.24ohm resistor correctly
3) see how yellow parking light mode looks (switchbacks are white when in parking light mode. WHITE + stock AMBER diffuser = yellowish)
Onto the video
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9V65brLIJyI
will follow up with a night time video if anyone is interested

stay tuned, i'll have a video uploaded in the next 2 hours.
unfortunately since i've already installed both switchbacks in, the night time video will not be a comparison (one halogen, one switchback) but both will be switchbacks.
i'll just how how it looks at night in parking mode and turn signal.
i got to admit. i was coming out of autozone and it was night time, i hit the key fob to unlock my car and when the turn signals blink, they blink BRIGHT YELLOW. it looks pretty pimp actually. lol

arrived in 3 days, super fast shipping.
i didn't have to cut or modify anything, i have a 08 base.
the reason other people WERE saying they had to modify their headlight is because in the early days when switchbacks first came out (2006-2009?) the LEDs they used on the switchbacks were a different kind.... those LEDs back than were bigger, and made it bulky to put in the headlight housing.
technology eventually got better and they were eventually able to create switchbacks using small LEDs (but BRIGHTER).
it's safe to say any switchback you see being sold today will fit your turn signal sockets perfectly fine.
the outdated led kinds are called "FLUX". today the standard for bright leds are "SMD" or "SMT". avoid "FLUX" LEDs at all costs!!!

i'll find out the answer for you next week when i get a friend to install my clear USR diffusers ( http://www.uniquestyleracing.com/20actlclhedi.html ) for me. i'm also curious if the switchbacks in parking light mode will match my oem xenons. chances are the switchbacks are a tad blue.
heres a night time video i just took. both sides are switchbacks. i really don't know why i kept walking over the passenger side headlight.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2LIjMwHeKKY
at 0:15 to 0:22 i was trying to demonstrate how brilliant yellow it looks when i hit the keyfob to lock/unlock at night....
video doesn't do justice, if you saw how yellow it looked in person it would make you look twice.

I loved it and almost didn't want to change it lol.
Now I'm looking to get a similar look again... but I don't want amber diffusers. I want actual yellow diffusers [but a white bulb behind the yellow diffuser doesn't look as good].

tpham86,
I replied to your PM with hopefully all the info you need...and then some.
To answer everyones question if you are getting switchbacks and retaining your factrory HID's you will for sure want to get the 5000K switchbacks as they match much closer than the 6K's which are signficantly different color than the 4300K OEM HID.
Also, I highly recommend getting the type 2 so you dont have some ridiculous looking white and amber alternating turn signal. Type 2 which turns off the white parking lamp and only flashes amber is mush better and looks more like an OEM system.
If your mind is for sure set on switchbacks the only ones I can recommend are the VLED's 92smt 5K type 2's. Thats the only way to go!!
I personally sold all my switchbacks and stuck with vled's 92smt all amber.

Maybe a stupid question, what did you do to stop hyper flashing, if anything? The seller says "Built-in circuit stabilizer for consistent power consumption" but then warns that hyper flashing may occur. Do you still have stock rear turn signal bulbs? Years ago I took apart the turn signal relay in my civic, and pulled a resistor and added a 1k potentiometer, hoping that would work in my TL also. Thanks.
read more about it here.
https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-2004-2008-93/g-109-diy-eliminate-led-bulb-induced-hyper-flashing-without-load-resistors-815219/
and here is a video of my LEDs in the rear turn signal
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=au_shgzE-qM
SHORT ANSWER - Buy a 0.24ohm resistor and solder it into your relay if you plan on using LEDs on FRONT AND REAR. If you plan on just running 1 set of LEDs (FRONT only, or REAR only) you can settle for a 0.12ohm resistor.
If you can't find a 0.24ohm resistor than 2x 0.12ohm resistor will do.
If you want, you can solder the 0.24ohm resistor in place and just use ONE SET (FRONT only, or REAR only) and it will still prevent hyperflash. Whenever you decide to switch out the other pairs to have LEDs front and back you can just swap it in and not have to worry about soldering since it's already in place.
Get what I mean? Pretty much a 0.24ohm will do. Whether it be both stock halogen bulbs front and rear, just switchbacks in front and halogen in rear, or both LEDs front and rear.
Get a 0.24ohm resistor.

Does anyone know a true 5000k switchback? that is 120smd 60/60. I bought the ebay one and it works quite well but it is more of 6000k. I want something more close to stock which is 4300k-5000k

I did not try it. I ended up blacking out the ambers and placing the switchbacks in.
