It's bumping into the horn.

You'll need to relocate the horn.

 

to where tho? you should put that in the write up in here. When I did mine we couldn't figure out where and just zip tied it somewhere, I had to get the body shop to fabricate a bracket and mount it somewhere to the frame

we did zip tie it to no avail then just gave up lol...but they need to be mounted to the frame as far as I know.

 

oh right - the horn is very simple.
1 positive wire, 1 ground.
the ground is connected/bolted to the frame originally.

the positive wire may be extended to find a good place, and the ground can be buttoned down using another wire hooked to the chassis.

instead of connecting the horn to the bracket, connect to a wire attached to ground
much easier with pictures.

 

Took me a bit to figure this one out, but it wasn't too bad.

There's two horns, with the lower being connected to the upper horn bracket with it's own separate bracket.

1) I forgot to take pictures of that connection, but you can remove the lower horn, after you loosen the bolt for the upper horn connecting to the bracket.

2) Slide the upper horn away, then remove two other 12mm bolts that connect the main horn bracket to the frame

3) Take off the main bracket, then remove the lower horn and it's own separate bracket.

4) I moved the lower horn closer inwards towards the engine. I removed the 10mm bolt that was on the bottom front (if you face the bumper), then slid the lower horn bracket and horn in. I added a washer, and it may slightly graze a metal line, but it should be OK.



Afterwards, I just put the main bracket back on without the lower horn. Since it didn't move TOO much, I didn't have to move any grounds and was able to still use the wire and it's original positioning.

Quick question about this:

My fogs work etc, the only thing that's slightly annoying to me now is that the light on the button to turn the fogs is ALWAYS on. Is this normal? Or did I wire to the button wrong?

 

It depends on how you wired your trigger wire.

If it's hooked to a constant ON fuse, then it will light up 24/7 and you will be able to turn on and off your fogs whenever you want, even if the car is off.

If you hooked it to fuse #32, then it will light up as soon as you start up your car.
I am not exactly familiar to how the inspire fog switch behaves, but I assume it has 3 wires.

1 for power (trigger), 1 for ground, and one that goes to the relay to tell the fogs to turn on.

Once it receives power, it will automatically light up since the bulb is on the same circuit.

You can't really fix that, but the solution I believe you should take is to install the OEM accord fog light switch.

It has a separate circuit for button illumination (5 wires for the switch), and you can just tap into the VSA button's illumination.

The button is cheap I believe, around $15.

 

Very nice write-up GP16! I might have to attempt this when I install my CAI since I'll already have the bumper off. It would be a good weekend project or good Christmas break project!

After having to REDO the wire due to a rat chewing through the wire for the cabin harness, the ground, etc, I thought I'd try to point the lights downwards. I'm not sure if I'm doing it right though; from what it looks like, one would just need to play around with the inner screw correct? If I turn the screw clockwise, that should make the light point down? Or vice versa?

 

It's actually really tough to adjust these I believe.

Just how they are installed - they were installed with the front lens of the fogs flush with the grill.

Now if the front lens of the fogs were "floating" and the back assembly was the only thing attached, you may use the screw in the back to aim them.

Accord fogs you may adjust as desired as the fog is floating in the bezel.

Hey can anyone recomend a projector that will retro fit intothe inspire fog lights?

 

I am looking into this too. One guy used BMW X5 LED fogs, but that was all custom. You essentially have to destroy the inspires then bondo and stuff the X5s in. Definitely not an easy task. One thing I was looking at is whether the Morimoto XB LED fogs would be able to fit. I also have a Ford Fusion projector fog that I am curious if it would fit in

I bought the same inspire fog light kit and i installed a couple of days ago and everything went well as far as installation. This thread really helped a lot, couldnt have done it without. When finally tested it whithout putting the bumper on it worked as expected, turned them off and when tried to turned then on again didnt work. So far i checked everything (relay, all connections, bulbs) and i dont find anything wrong. I know something moved or went out but i dont know what else to check. Do you guys experience similar problems?

You would be suprised as to how much of an improvement it looks like from a distance. all 4 projectors in unison driving down the road looks crisp! with purple flicker.

 

So I ordered the Inspire Fog lights off of Amazon but the red wire is missing from the package. Can I just buy the same gauge wire size at Home Depot to replace it with what I think it should be connected to on the picture that I took?

Also, I'll have to take pictures of the grill work that I did with the dremel, the bottom corner sides on the outside of the fog lights wouldn't fit straight onto the lower grill so I had to cut off a lot of extra material and it still doesn't sit flush, I'm not sure why. I tried forcing the fog light inside the back of the grill but then it still wouldn't sit evenly flush.

 

So I figured out that the grey connector would power the fog lights so I cut that connector off and bought some 12 gauge red wire to connect to the harness and connected that to the positive battery cable and bam! The fog lights turn on! But is the fog light switch supposed to be illuminated all the time even when the key is in the off position? Mine stays illuminated and I'm wondering if that'll eventually drain the battery and kill it, I thought the light on the switch would turn off once the key is out of the ignition.

I'm going to have to find that rubber grommet that's in the engine bay so I can put the wires through there to complete the DIY. Great write-up!

 

No, fogs are not supposed to be on when the key is off. Where did you wire the red light to? You should be connecting it to the accessory fuse with an add-a-fuse. The light will stay on when the car is on however.

 

I meant the fog light switch was on when the key is out of the ignition, not the actual fog lights themselves. I had the red wire to the positive battery cable but I do have the add-a-fuse connected to fuse #32 in the cabin.

 

Well back to square one for me, after spending the afternoon wiring up my harness I'm still trying to figure out what wire under the dash to splice the power from the harness too, first I tried the red and white wire on the VSA and that didn't work so I tried the red and black one but that kept turning the VSA on and off so I cut that off and now the VSA switch is back to normal.

What wire should I splice it into if I want the fog lights independent from when the parking lights are turned on. I want to be able to turn them on at anytime. Thanks!

 

Scratch that, I had my power harness wire connected to the red/white wire which was causing the VSA to turn on and off with the fog light switch so I just put it back to the red/black wire so it turns on when the parking lights are on. I will take pictures once I have it put back together! Thank you so much guitarplayer16 for the awesome guide!!! The Inspire fog lights that I bought had a different set of wire harness for it and they didn't ship the extra set of red wires so I just bought a whole roll of red wire at Menard's in place of that.

 

She's finally finished! Now I'm just waiting for my fog light bulbs to arrive to replace the stock halogen ones. Now I just need the A-Spec kit to finish the look!! I had to do some tweaking to the grill again so took it apart to shave off some more to fit the fogs better.

When I was finishing up taking my pictures, the security guard rolled up and asked what I was doing and told me that I'm on private property and can't be there, I told him taking pictures of my car and he asked "why?" LOL! I told him because it's a hobby and he just drove off, some people will never understand haha.

These work very well.
It's mainly because these are installed in almost the same position/orientation as the Honda Inspire.

The 03-05 4dr Honda Accord fog lights however are a much different story.

 

You live in socal, fogs are just for looks anyway

 

Maybe for some, but not when you have to deal with coastal fog.

 

They definitely work great, especially after I put in the LED fog light bulbs. Let me find a picture that I took showing the difference when they're on and off, you see a lot more of the road with them on.

The pattern is great too and there's a lot more light on the road to your left and right now instead of just straight ahead from just the headlights.

Nice. Thanks for posting. The ones I saw had a vertical adjustment IIRC, looks like the side to side is close enough. There are several aftermarket sellers out there, do you know if any one is better than the other?

You're welcome! Yeah the sides are perfect, I didn't do any adjustment and it's nice to have the road lit up with the HID headlight bulbs and the LED fog light bulbs paired together.

You're right, there are tons of sellers for these fog lights out there. I bought mine based off the price compared to the other ones.

The bulb size for the Honda Inspire fogs are H11.
