I'd pay for the Carfax Vehicle history report and see what it says. If it says it was involved in an accident of some sort I'd go back to the dealer and have them redress it. I'm not sure if they'd give you another car but make them give you an explanation. If not tell them you are going to file a report with your state attorney's office. They're the unscrupulous car dealer's worse nightmare.

If you pay for it, you will see more details... IMO, those records could mean issuing your title and passing the safety inspection.

The full-carfax will give you all the detailed vehicle history.

Basically, you should have only one record, as dheel said above... maybe, they did add up some transfer records. I mean it's not worth of paying the service.

I was looking at buying a 2000 Integra from a local dealer as a second car to drive on weekend trips, to work from time to time, etc. The car looked very good and the price was average, maybe a little less than average. Seemingly excellent body and paint. Very clean black leather interior. I did the same thing as you, looked up the VIN on Carfax. It had 18 records. I just dropped the whole idea after I saw that. I didn't want to see the full report. It probably would have been too painful.

I did go back to the lot and looked closer at the body seams and rear underbody. Although it was hard to see, I found some overspray around the rear window and also silver paint specks in the rear fender wells which were like new. Car probably got smacked in the rear from the back or the side.

I watched mine drive off the truck. My Carfax says one (1) report.

As someone else said: I'd order the report and get to the bottom of things. Better to find out now than later.

Good luck!

That's odd because my vehicle says 0 records found although it tells me the year/make of the car and manufactured in the US. Go figure.

mine shows 3 records, and 25 trips into the shop. (Kidding).. but it does show 3 records. I know it came from one other dealer, but don't know where it was before that one.

Maybe I'll add a 4th record: "drove off cliff, put to its rightful death"

Mine shows 1 record also. I paid the $19.95 only to find out info that's already on the title!
-- 4 miles on the odometer on date 1st registered, etc
So for those of you who have multiple records, it's possible that there's a report for every transfer between dealers.

I thought carfax only showed damage type stuff or resurection from junk yard info.
So I took advantage of their money back guarantee.
