Is it in the sidewall or the tread? If it's in the tread, they can't patch it for $5?!?!? Hopefully the Acura service boys aren't taking you to the cleaners on this.....plus, I'm sure some of the disgruntled EL42 users would be willing to sell you their old ones if they have had them replaced on their own dime.

Sounds like a good time to replace with Falken Ziex 512's for about $410 delivered plus mounting and balancing. And a better time to get rid of the crappy Bridgestones. Of course, you could also go with the Michelin Pilot Sports, but they would run about $800.

Yeah, for a new tire, I would definitely not go with the Acura dealer...or see if they will meet a deal you can get elsewhere. Hell, you can see how much markup they have on their service - $20 for a tire repair? Wal-Mart does it for like $6 or something.

replace
I blew front crappy EL 42 and bought 4 Falkens referenced above ($396 delivered to my zip), smooth , cheap and low rolling resistance and good on wet.
check cons reports for details.
New EL 42 was $250 for one. What a joke.

I have also had to replace an EL42 (piece of metal punctured). Had to go to local Firestone shop, and they managed to find the only available tire in the state just up the road in Bellevue. They quoted me $260, but they gave me a discount (felt sorry for me I guess) of $60. I don't care for these tires that much, but the guys at the tire shop were very helpful - went and got the tire within an hour.
On a related note...just got off the phone with the service guys at my dealer to have them look at my tires (along with the two rattles) - I've had a few instances of vibration in the morning. Of course the first thing out of the guy's mouth was "These tires don't flatspot anymore". My reply was "Either way, you guys are going to address this vibration issue." Annoying. Do love the car though...hopefully this gets resolved quickly.
